Can I do this to preorder my GNex (when it becomes available)?

I have the iPhone 4s which I bought abou 2 weeks ago using the upgrade to my line. I want to return the phone and get the GNex. Instead of getting in line (supposedly Friday), can I preorder the GNex (hopefully tonight or tomorrow night) using my DD's available upgrade, and then take it to a corp store when it arrives and put it on my line? I want to return the iPhone and basically have the GNex replace it.

Would this be allowed or would it be too complicated, ridden with fees, etc. I already accented that I need to pay my $35 fee for the iPhone, but I don't want any fees for the GNex if possible. Thanks! Katherine

if you want to purchase the nexus with the current line you would not have an upgrade back until you return the other phone. It may be easier to go in store and do it. There will not be huge lines for the phone so you should have no problem.

I've done this sort of thing before. Essentially, you have to activate the Nexus on the line you're upgrading, activate another phone (not the iPhone, cuz it's still active on your line) on the same line, then activate the Nexus on your line.
It sounds complicated, but it's not. And it can all be done on VZWs site.

Then you could return the iPhone and get your upgrade and money back.

No need to take it to the store, you can do it all online at my verizon, you do not even need to activate it on the line.

In my verizon, select your number from the drop down box, select activate a phone and it will ask you or you should turn off your old one, and then type in the IMEI number of the new phone and dial *228 and your good.

Thanks. LOL, my iPhone just died tonight so I called support. They got it back on line and the first thing they had me do once it was back on line is dial *228 and press 1. I asked if it would kill my sim since I was literally reading this thread as I was talking to Level 2 tech support, and the guy said, "no I don't think so."

Anyway, iPhone back up so hopefully it won't shut down on me again.

Oh, he said GNex coming out next Spring because "something went wrong and they had to revamp the whole operating system." GOOD GRIEF!

I just said, "Wow, that is too bad because I heard it's a great phone." And hung up......

VZW iPhone's don't have LTE SIMs, so there's no danger. The *228 damage thing only applies to LTE SIMs.

And where do these reps get their info? Revamp the whole OS? Baaahahaha.

Actually, I think he was trying to sell me on a 2nd iPhone (for the line that still has the upgrade available). I told him, no thanks. Esp since this was a tech support call given that the phone had blacked out for hours! LOL.

if you order it, you can just activate it right on your line, no need to put it on your daughter's then switch. and like someone said, you can do it all from the website.

Also online you can just switch your DD's update to your line, then get the GN. If I was you and wanted the phone right away I would just go into the store, doubt very much there will be a line.

Well, I checked VZW site tonight after the nightly update and no GNex preorder, sooooo, I am assuming it's not gonna happen in the next 24h. Probably will go to the store on Friday and buy it there and return the iphone at the same time. I just don't like the store people messing with my new phones (love opening it myself and setting it up from the get go). Nothing like the smell of a fresh Fed Ex box as it is cracked open!

Probably will go to the store on Friday and buy it there and return the iphone at the same time. I just don't like the store people messing with my new phones (love opening it myself and setting it up from the get go). Nothing like the smell of a fresh Fed Ex box as it is cracked open!

I can't agree enough. For the past 3 years, I have not been the first person to turn on my phone. Always, the apple store, best buy or someone else opening my iPhone, android or other phones.

I'm envious of all those you tubers that do opening videos.
