Can I have my phone on mute but still hear notifications from specific WhatsApp group chats?

I'd like to still hear notifications for a certain whatsapp group whilst my phone is on mute when sleeping. Do not disturb doesn't allow exceptions for apps.

DND should do the trick, not sure why you say it doesn't support apps. You might have to mark Whatsapp as a priority notification and all the rest as non-priority, though.
