I had my phone rooted with a custom os. I then had it flashed from sprint to metro pcs where he put the stock ROM on it. Can I put a custom os back on without messing up the flash keeping it on Metro pcs

You mean can you flash a rom for one device, that is unlocked on another carrier?

The answer is yes, but you're going to have to re flash the new radio for the carrier you moved to. Go to the location where you had it converted the first time and ask the rep that did it to give you a copy of the radio to flash for yourself.
