Can I root this phone out of the box?

I am looking at this phone through Verizon. Can I root it easily?

Yes, stump root and ioroot are two methods that work very well for the Verizon variant.

I am not certain which firmwares are now shipping with new G3's from Verizon, but there exists a method even if it comes pre upgraded.

Yes agreed with Xocomaox its very easy to root this phone but you will have to have some knowledge because you will have to downgrade to the stock software to allow the one click (stump root) to work.

I received my Verizon G3 about two weeks ago now, it shipped with the 12B firmware which stump stated it couldn't root.

I'm no expert but I'm thinking you will need to flash an older firmware first.
