Can I save a wifi network but not automatically reconnect?

I'm sure in the past there was an option whether or not to autoreconnect to a network, but I cannot see that anymore. The reason being, I have an extender in my house but it emits a 2.4ghz and 5 ghz signal separately, I want to primarily use the 5ghz but I have some devices that only connect to 2.4ghz that are controlled by my phone, so will occasionally need to switch to that. I don't want to have to put the password in each time and then forget the network when I am done. As 2.4ghz tends to be a better signal for range when I walk away from the extender it loses the 5, switches to 2.4 and then doesn't go back to 5.

Running Oxygen 5.0.1 (Android 8.0.0) on OnePlus3T

If all devices are on the same network you should be able to control them from your 5G connection or do you mean you only want to connect to the 2.4G when the 5G is out of range.

Thanks, no I only really want to stay on the 5G network on my phone. But be able to manually switch without entering the password if I want to.

I'd like to know too, I have comcast internet and my phone will auto connect to any comcast router if I'm just driving by a house or at a stop sign. It's annoying. There should be an option to save the password but not auto connect.
