Can not hear when making a call

Hey all... Newbie in town with a big problem!

Has anybody had these symptoms on their epic 4g when making or receiving a call?

- Can not hear through ear piece when dialing or receiving
- user can hear me but you can not hear them

- can hear ringing if headphones are plugged in.
- can hear ringing through bluetooth

It seems like the speaker had gone out but i dont see how. Up until today everything was working great. I had updated to Froyo using the guide on this site about 2 weeks ago with great success.

In an attempt to rectify this I reset the phone back to 2.1 using instructions for odin provided by liquid jesus.

Unfortunately after the reset the condition still persists.

That problem I would call "Stuck in headset mode" insert the earpiece in and out a few times and see if that fix the problem. If problem persist then take the phone to your nearest repair center - for repair/replacement.

mine will do that sometimes. with mine its a glitch with 2.2 i believe and i just toggle speaker phone real quick while ringing and it works fine. try that

some times toggling speaker will work for me. Doesn't always happen. Rare. Running 2.1.

Thanks guys i tried everything you told me. nothing worked.

Sprint basically told me to hit the road on this. I have no idea what to do now. Any ideas?

Yes this happens from time to time. My epic doesn't do it to often but my wife has it happen quite often. I tell her to do the speaker phone toggle real quick to resolve the issue. Btw, were both running Froyo/custom roms for anyone taking notes.
