Can sprint activate the 32gb nexus 5?

When I activated my phone at a sprint store the guy was confused on 2 things. First was the Sim card. They had plenty though. The next thing was funny, he took the phone out of the box and went to turn it on, then said ?did you insert the battery ? I face palmed.. Its embedded. Other than that, they are very helpful

So can anyone who has activated the phone, and already has an existing contract, confirm that Sprint will charge a $36 activation fee?

I can't confirm or deny, however, the $36 activation fee is standard, so more then likely that's true. :(:banghead:

They didn't charge me the fee. If your just switching phones and not modifying your contract (IE: Upgrade, starting a new line) it should be free. They might charge you for the Sim card, but I doubt it

Sounds right, if your not upgrading or starting a new line there shouldn't be any charge.:)

I went to 4 Sprint stores until finally, the 5th actually knew what they were doing. First store told me it would be $50 for a sim card, said goodbye. 2nd store tried to tell me the phone shipped with a sim card and in order to install/remove it, I needed a special tool to disassemble the phone..*sigh* .. Finally, I walked in, asked the guy and was told they only received 5 sim cards but he was harvesting HTC One sims, so he gave me one of those, for free, as it should have been.

Wow! Some people just don't have a clue about phones! :banghead::D

How do they even get a job in places like that?!:what::eek:

That's harsh (and likely true, but still harsh lol). I've found that most people working in cell phone stores mean well, really want to help you, but don't get the training they need to do their job well from the higher ups.

I've also found that being kind, and having a positive attitude even when they are wrong helps you get exactly what you want :) These problems will sort themselves out in a week or so. Everyone in this thread is the guinea pig for a bunch of people who don't have the facts they need just yet. Try not to hate them for it.

The problem I have is that they want to help you, but don't have a clue on what needs to done to fix your problem other to wipe the phone. They have actually told me that anything different than stock launchers mean you have rooted your phone. And Google Play is full of "bad" apps. Or you have too many apps on your phone. Now, you see where I'm coming from.

Question for those of you who have been able to activate the 32GB N5 on Sprint... what number did you use to identify the phone? I tried again this morning and Sprint is still unable to match my N5's IMEI number to their database. Is the trick to use one of the other numbers? They confirmed that my SIM card is ok, but they still can't "find" my phone.

On your phone, go to settings>about phone>status and look at your MEID number. That's the number that Sprint needs to get it going. (The MEID number is one digit shorter than the IMEI number). I ran into the same problem but the customer service rep knew how to get around the IMEI problem

On mine I used the number on the back of the phone. There is a - then a last number. I had to leave that number off.

The process for a google play purchased nexus is; get it delivered, then get a sim card from a sprint store, and of course go online and register it?

Sprint corporate stores annoy the hell out of me with their lack of training. The mantra: "Sprint doesn't use SIM cards." Hey buddy, come here and let me show you 6 phones on your service that REQUIRE a SIM card. Not understanding your business and technology requirements for a corporate store is MADDENING. Go to best buy and they know what you're asking for but don't keep extra cards on hand. I ended up calling the international service department at sprint and they are overnighting me a SIM card at my expense of course. Queue twitter war with SprintCare for reimbursement of overnight fee for dealing with lack of training on their part. Side note: why does Sprint only respond to complaints publicly if received by twitter?

They just shipped my sim for free. 3 day shiping. I used international echat.

lol... totally agree.. I love letting them try and explain something to me that I know they are completely wrong... The dude kept calling my phone the Galaxy Nexus 5 by LG when I went in.... They had ONE pretty informed and knowledgeable guy but the first guy I was dealing with and even the guy who had the "Manager" name tag was completely lost... The one informed guy was the one who went to the back and got the SIM card for me... the other two were confused (Manager included) but I've also ran into that in Best Buy a few times as well... But your right the Sprint stores are HORRIBLE.... listing off all the wrong specs and I am sitting there reading the card ON THE DISPLAY and pointing out but it says 2 GB of RAM you said 1 GB... "Oh they must have bumped it up recently." "On a brand new phone just released?"
