Can we do a side by side comparison of the X and Inc?

I understand there are a million Incredible v. Droid X threads all over internet forums right now...but they usually just end in Motorola v. HTC fan boy pissing matches without any real information being discussed.

I am seriously on the fence as to which phone to get (I am up for an upgrade). I am OK with the size of the Droid X, so that is not an issue positively or negatively for me at all. My current BlackBerry storm is a pretty big phone in its own right, so I'm used to carrying around a brick (the Droid X is actually slightly lighter than the Storm). I prefer the Sense UI to the Moto Blur (or Ninja blur), but maybe I wouldn't be missing much if the Moto Blur is streamlined and better this time around?

So here is what I would ask of you all...a simple side by side comparison of the Inc and the X. Let's review User Interfaces, screens, display quality, features, hardware, etc. Basically everything we know about each phone, let's compare.

Well Droid X's screen is probably more bearable in sunlight but not as vibrant as the Incredible. You can't compare Sense to its Blur considering we're not entirely sure what it has now. Basically it comes down to whether you want a monster 4.4 inch screen and 720p video recording or a 3.7 inch phone that's more pocket friendly with sense (Even thought I don't really even use it anymore so it's not a big deal to me)

Yeah im pretty sure it isn't the same type of screen. As for your size comparison- I have the Incredible and I am coming from a Storm 2. The Incredible is much much more comfortable in the hand. But when you say that the screen size of the X won't bother you, don't be too sure of that. I would suggest going and playing with an EVO and just looking at the size and maneuverability with it. I went to a sprint store and put one in my hand and I really had no interest in it after that. I am sure the phone is awesome but the size was just way too big. MUCH bigger than the Storm was. If you can't hack it with an Evo, definitely steer clear of the X since it will be an even bigger screen. If you have already used an evo and like it, then nevermind what I just said. I just did not want you to think that it will be comparable to the storm because it is not even close.
Both of them are going to have a 1 Ghz processor, HTC has Snapdragon and the X will have something else, some say the X may be a little faster but who is to say that now? I have never had any lag issues with the Incredible at all so speed is not a problem. I have at least 50 apps and they are all running great. The buttons on the X are something that I would not like since I love the whole screen being flat on the Inc and have not really heard of any problems with the on screen buttons at all.
The keyboard is a bit different, with the X having the multitouch keyboard (like the storm2) and the Inc not having that. I use the stock keyboard on the Inc and I love it. Multitouch is really not a huge issue since I have never had problems with the speed of typing and I go pretty fast.
I really really like the Sense UI and would never go without it. Everything about it to me seems great and I have never had any problems with it. Blur has had tons of complaints and I do not know if I would trust the new version to be any better than the old.
Hardware wise, people are going to say the X is better because it has metal. Metal or plastic does not matter to me, a solid build does. The Incredible is very solid and I have never felt otherwise. Based on Motorola's track record with the Droid, I would give the hardware to HTC because the droid just seemed so cheaply made and the slide out keyboard was awful. Granted, the X does not have a keyboard but I just have never liked the build quality on Moto phones in general.

Wow, thank you so much for that detailed response, you may have kind of swayed me back to the Incredible. I am going to take your advice and stop into a Sprint store to play with the Evo. The one thing I do not like about the Incredible is its screen width. I wish they made it just a little bit wider (the screen on the storm is actually a touch wider than the Inc).

But I do like Sense a lot more than Blur, I do like the smoothness of the Inc compared to the X's physical front buttons, at the same time I like that the X has a designated camera button. I feel like I will make good use of the HDMI out slot on the X as long as the performance of the phone is good enough to show HD movies smoothly. But, I also like the track pad on the HTC. I wish these two phones would merge into one to make me the perfect phone haha.

In all honesty, if the Inc wasn't so back ordered, I would have owned one weeks ago. HTC and Verizon really shot themselves in the foot with that whole ordeal.

Here's a question...would I be able to almost recreate the Sense UI feel on a Moto phone by d/ling widgets and such from the market?

You would be able to get the clock and weather on the X using beautiful widgets. Other than that you really won't be able to get much. HTC does the calendar, contacts, friendstream, amazing stock keyboard, and plenty of other things that you will not be able to recreate.
If you are going to use the hdmi then maybe it would be worth it. I just would rather have hardware and UI that I liked better before worrying about things like hdmi that really won't be used all that often. Also, I think you will like the size of the incredible quite a bit. It is more narrow than the storm but I am using it right now with a full qwerty keyboard in portrait view and I am flying. So much easier than the storm. Landscape is even easier to use than portrait but I am trying to get a feel for both. Another plus about the HTC keyboard- it comes with a compact qwerty (just like suretype for the storm) and the X will not have that. Let me know how you like the ego when you try it out. Even if you do not like the size of it, play around with the HTC sense. See how much you like it. Check out the calendars and widgets and everything else you would see yourself using on a daily basis.

Thank you so much. This is great insight coming from another former Storm user. One thing I have heard is that the HTC Keyboard is downloadable from the market as is the sense keyboard (I hear both keyboards are improvements over the stock android keyboard).

I will be sure to let you know what I think about the Evo when I get a chance to actually play around with one. I have seen a dummy set in Best Buy and with the screen off, it does appear to be extremely oversized and kind of silly looking. I'm sure I will get a different impression when the screen is actually on.

Plus, the screen resolution is within 54 pixels of being the same (citation needed) but the screen size is so different. That's gonna mean a ppi of quite a bit less.

I don't think less than impressive is right; I'm sure it will look great. Will it look less than the Incredible? Probably.

Take what Apple did with the iPhone 4. They quadrupled the amount of pixels in the same space (3.5 in.). That's how they get over 300 ppi (pixels per inch). The incredible is much closer to that 300 ppi than either the EVO or the X are/will be. So yes, the Incredible will technically look better.

Yeah. While the screen size is pretty cool because you can see more, I do not like the tradeoff with the quality. For me, it was also almost impossible to text with one hand. I have pretty small hands and I honestly think I would have dropped it all the time if I had to text on it one handed. It works for some people but definitely would not work for me.
