Can you live ONLY with your cell phone DATA plan?

Cell Phone Data Only

Ummm...no. If I had to stare that stupid phone that much I'l jump off a bridge.

Nope, no way. But our internet is also truly unlimited and we're YouTube TV people. We used 943GB over the past 30 days as an example. Probably 900 of that is YouTube TV/Prime Video/Netflix. That said, I make up for it with my cell plan. I overpay for Google Fi, but I like the network switching and tools and my bill is typically $25/month or so. Typically if I'm not on WiFi I'm in the car driving, and I don't touch my phone if I'm behind the wheel.

The biggest practical savings may come in moving to something like a Mint Mobile over a traditional cellular plan and keeping your home internet in place. If you're home most of the time anyway over COVID, does one really need that much cellular data at their disposal?

If you are retired..
And covit is all thats on tv.

You might use more data than you realize .
And your wife is working from home.
And on her phone all day.

You might be surprised how much data you could use.

I use 50 plus GB's high speed wifi at home, some months much more, and have a 7GB plus 7 GB plan at Verizon. Am in transition in life and these so called Unlimited plans at VZ and the other major carriers, just plain old marketing, most times you might get throttled. I could use one of my old non restrictive unlimited plans from VZ, but as most of us know, they want to be in control.

Some do. They're catching up with the times.. such as AT&T elite plan has 100 GB before you go to the potential slow lane during congestion.

So some of the plans are becoming more.. with the times you could say?

I have been using my unlimited cell data without cable internet for a little over 6 months.
AT&T unlimited elite (with military discount...meh) from a OnePlus 7 Pro using unlimited hot-spot and everything works great!
Typing on my laptop right now using WiFi hotspot on the phone. I "only" use a little over 50 gigs per month on average.
I have Dish for TV viewing. But I do use my Blu-Ray player's YouTube through the same hotspot every so often and it works just fine.
I just gotta rock out sometimes over my 7.2 home theater system.
So my cell phone bill, depending on how many days per month, averages about $70.00. But I no longer have a $65.00 per month cable internet bill from Spectrum/Charter Internet. Besides Spectrum my only other choice is AT&T fiber which costs more and gets worse reviews.
If I dropped my cell plan down to something with LESS data/hotspot access my bill would only drop by about $20.00 per month leaving me with a $50.00 bill, and then to add the $65.00 to that would cost me about $115.00 per month...give-or-take...so it's a no brainer for me! I'm saving $45.00 per month and see no difference for my usage needs. Plus, I basically can take my "unlimited" WiFi with me wherever I go. Now maybe $45.00 savings per month isn't much for some people...but in one years time that comes to the cost of one 2 way ticket to Kauai. My favorite vacation destination. Win-win!

If you use 50 gig a month.
You are on the internet too much.

Break away.

I'm gonna assume you don't play video games, COD is nearly 200GB to download, last update was roughly 30Gb. I have other games over 50Gb just to install. Haha

Plus my data is how I get all my entertainment, I've never paid for cable television and don't listen to a regular radio. I stream everything, some of it in 4k, doesn't take long to eat up 50Gb.

Yep
You are correct.
No video games .
No Netflix or movies.

Never got into them.

I could get by on my data plan if I was alone in the house, it only 50gb but it would be doable.
Not an option at the moment though, more people in the house makes for different needs.

Video game downloading/updating and streaming does take a toll on your usage. We have unlimited Wi-Fi and we even looked at the speed, because the PlayStation works/downloads more efficiently with stronger capabilities.

Everyone's needs and usages will be different. For example, I'm now using the Internet to work out from home. YouTube has been excellent. So while I am using the Internet, I'm also staying active. These different times mean that we will be at home more often and need to readapt. Personally, I'm finding more satisfaction and fulfillment from working out using YouTube fitness videos than by shutting off the PlayStation and going to the gym. Different strokes! :)

Yes! We don't have cable so we use Netflix and Crunchyroll. More Internet usage, but imagine the cable bills you're missing out on! Yay!

I have a OG Verizon unlimited plan, but, running my PC somehow off that data? My God I'd need to leave my phone plugged in charging all the time which would suck.

Exactly so your uses don't match everyone so let's stay away from telling people what they do to much simply because we aren't you.. k?

Exactly. My cameras alone at home eat up 500+ GB in my internet before any of my streaming. And yes COD is huge.

NO. But then times are not tight for me. Other than "having" to wear a mask when shopping and can't find a new truck, nothing has changed.

These days I think I should get off unlimited data because I'm home using WiFi most of the time.

Same here. I have a family plan though with my son and his wife on it. She used 26GB last month and he used 10GB. So I have to stay unlimited. I rarely use my phone away from wi-fi and used 1/4 GB last month. LoL.

But no way to use in place of home network which hit over 500GB last month. Jumped up a lot to that point after cutting the cord.
