AC Question

Hello, i have Android Phone XGODY model Y13 from China,

when i plugged into my USB drive on my PC, it does show up as a drive, but when i

double click on it, it says drive does not exist, also when i go to my devices and

printers in a control panel, i can see my device there, "Y13", but when i right click on

it, to try to view files, it shaded out, and i cannot do that.

Can some tell me what is going on, thank you in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon -- make sure MTP is selected.

If you don't see the USB icon, then try using another USB cable.

Does it say "USB Mass Storage"? That's a pretty outdated feature -- what version of Android is the phone running?

MTP stands for Media Transfer Protocol, and is the standard way to transfer files between an Android device and a PC via USB. USB Mass Storage actually mounts the phone's internal storage as if it were another drive on the computer -- this makes the storage inaccessible by the phone while it's mounted. This was only available for older phones that partitioned their internal storage into two areas -- a smaller one where apps were installed, and a larger one that acted like an SD card (usually referred to as "internal SD").
