Cannot add Yahoo account

Over the course of two days I had about 50 "Mailer-DAEMON@yahoo.com - failure to send email" notices in my inbox. Emails were illicitly sent by my yahoo email to various sites and addresses. Finally I was prompted to change my password because my account was probably hacked. Since I've changed my password, I've had authentication problems trying to sign in on my phone. I removed my yahoo account from my phone and tried to add it again but it keeps telling me "email address or password are incorrect". Any help with this is appreciated.

Are you using 2-step authentication for your Yahoo account? If so, turn it off temporarily. If the email app starts working again, you should then be able to turn 2-step back on.

You could also try manually adding all of the Yahoo account information to the email app.

Do you mean for the stock email app? If you are using two factor authentication on Yahoo, you have to create a custom one-time password for email apps.

Log in to your Yahoo account (on a computer browser). There should be a control top right with your name and maybe a picture - click that and then "account info". Click "account security", it will ask for your password and then maybe a second-factor auth. On the account security screen, toward the bottom, there is an option "Manage app passwords." Click that and you will get a popup where you can get a custom password for the email app there (it will be a 16 lower case alpha passphrase in 4 blocks of 4 characters, I believe.)

Yes the stock email app. I turned off 2-step authentication as B. Diddy suggested, and I had no problem adding Yahoo. Thanks guys for the help!
