Cannot locate "Favorite Images"

Samsung S8 - I will download an image or a GIF and I get the "download successful" message and I see the "Favorite Images" folder open. My download is viewable but I cannot send it anywhere else or share it. If I close the folder I cannot get back to it. The next time I repeat this scenario I can see all previous downloads that went to "Favorite Images" but I'm unable to use them. If I click on G in Google I do not see any menu at lower right. Google is using the lower screen to force feed adds or suggested sites. If I use the 3 dot upper right menu there is no "Collections" option available.

Welcome to Android Central! If you're using the Google Search app to download the image, then go to Settings>Apps, select Google, then Permissions, and make sure Storage is turned on. Now when you download, it should go to the /Download directory.

Finally.... an answer. Thank you. Now... IS IT POSSIBLE TO VIEW THE PREVIOUSLY DOWNLOADED FILES IN "FAVORITE IMAGES"?

For those previously downloaded images, I think you can only view them from within the Google app. When the Google app doesn't have Storage permission, the images get saved to a protected system directory (which means you can't manipulate the files yourself unless the phone is rooted). Are you able to locate those images again on the web and re-download them?

I am having the same issue with not knowing how to access the Favorite Images folder.

I was able to download it to my My Files>Downloads and on the list it shows up as Google Image but when I click on it, it says Unable To Open File - You don't have any apps that can open this type of file. You can search for one on Play Store. I click Search on that window and it pops up a list of apps in the play store but I have no idea what I am looking for, or which one to install.

Why is this so much trouble ??? Ugh, why not just have the option to move the image to the Gallery ??

"My Files>Downloads" doesn't sound like the actual directory path -- it sounds more like a category in the file manager app (i.e., the file manager groups together downloads from various locations into one Download category. Using your file manager, go to the actual /Download directory -- do you see the file there?

Did you re-download the image after turning on Storage permission? The one that you downloaded before turning on Storage permission will still be in the inaccessible directory.

When you open My Files, are you going directly to the "Downloads" category, or are you navigating to the /Download directory? Use the option to explore the phone storage and look in the actual directory.

(Sorry if this is frustrating -- it's always a bit tricky to assist someone who doesn't have the same device I have.)

Also, can you give a brief summary of the steps you're taking to download the image from the Google app's image search?

I was just going to say I hope I'm not frustrating you too much lol. I'm not the sharpest crayon in the shed but when it comes to understanding technology I think that train has sailed.

The full steps is this:
Find a pic on google image and hit the little "tag" icon and get the message it's been added to Favorite Images. I know I can't seem to access that folder once I navigate from this page so I click on the Favorite Images link that popped up. I can see the image in the Favorite Images folder but there's no option to download it. I can move it but only to a new Collection (I don't have any so I have no idea where that would save it or if I could access it). So, once I navigate away from the Favorite Images folder, the image is lost somewhere in my phone.

I do have the Storage turned on in the Google App.

I can always just take a screen shot of the image (which saves it in my Gallery) and then crop out the webpage crap around it to get the picture but I'd rather be able to just access it directly.

This is what I do:

1. In Google app's image search, tap on photo to maximize it.
2. Long-press image, which gives two options: Download Image and Share Image.
3. Tap Download Image -- the image gets saved to /Downloads.

(So don't bother with the little bookmark icon.)

that worked perfectly, and it showed up immediately in my Downloads folder as just the image itself. So I don't have to crop it like I was doing with taking a screen shot of it.

Problem solved. Thanks a ton. Can't believe it was that easy lol.
