Cannot log into samsung wear app on phone. Shows white screen!

I just got this phone today and when i try and log into the galaxy wear app, just a white screen appears and i cannot do anything. The phone is a Xiaomi Mi 9.

I'm having the exact same issue on my Pixel 2 XL. Hopefully someone has a solution.
