Now go to your phone as you sign in into gmail instead of your password, enter that long *** password it will work.. i did it and it worked.. it took me 5 hours to figure it out..

HTC emailed me again saying that I should perform a Factory Reset on my phone. I'm contemplating it, but I don't want to lose all of my stuff. :'(
I have been having the same issue not with the entire Google account universe, but with a simple News widget part of the Android OS 2.3.3, which came with my phone. It's been going on for almost a week now and is driving me nuts. Who did you contact at HTC?

I also have this type of problem yesterday my google play store was not working then i reset my mobile now i got a new problem my mobile is not accepting my google account. Help

its look like you decided to turn on two-factor authentication for my Google account, that is what make the error on password

It turns out the solution is simple. The reason the problem happens is, as Google notes (and as I completely ignored when switching on the two-factor authentication option), not all Google apps are compatible with the system yet. However, Google offers the option of using a browser to generate a special application-specific password.

Simply go to your Google account settings, and select the option to edit your two-factor settings. Then select the option 'Manage application-specific passwords'. This will prompt you two enter a name for the device you're authorising (in my case my LG P500 Android phone). You can then generate a random password that will let you use the Android Gmail app. (You can also revoke access from the same interface.)

Problem solved!

I have a HTC Inspire and this is my first time having this problem.

An error notification showed up on my phone. It states "Sign-in error for [my email address here]. When I click on it, it says:

Google sign-in

You entered the wrong password or your account has changed. Please re-enter your password.

Username:
[my email address here]

Password:
[empty box here]

Whenever I enter my password (yes, I enter the correct one) and click "Sign In", it still keeps asking for my password.

HELP!!!!!

Here's what the error message looks like: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y260/unveiledthoughts/download.jpg

I am having the same problem...on my kindle. Kindles don't support google apps. I think it's a fake, as my mail app works just fine. Probably a virus, trying to steal your information.
