Can't answer incoming calls on the Nexus 5

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

It seems there are too many problems with Sprint: no simultaneous data and voice, difficult answering phone calls. Can't use tethering without paying Sprint for it. On top that, very limited LTE coverage.

I don't know why ppl put up with that?

Why? Because the plans are cheaper, there is no data cap and in most cases the issues are overblown. I've been with Sprint for 17 years. I've loved them and hated them. But I made an educated decision to stay with them at my last contract cycle because of their spectrum position in the industry once NV is complete. Their capacity will be unequaled to the other carriers when done.

I use 5 - 6 gig per month on average. I could frankly care less if I get LTE most of the time. What I want is solid speeds. I have little use for 15M+ speeds. No practical need for it for me on a phone. I good steady 1 - 2 M satisfies my needs 90% of the time. So the big deal for me is Sprint's completion of NV.

Is that 1-2 MG per second or per minute? I get that per minute but it's usually closer to 1MG or less.

Sprint is already unequalled to the other carriers - in sub par data speeds, dropped calls, network problems of every stripe... I never see any evidence of this mythical NV. I hoped Softbank would speed it up but as with everything else Sprint it is non existent or so slow to be unnoticeable.

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

Did you get your new phone? Did the behavior change?

Yes! Got the new phone and can now answer all my incoming calls ..eh, the ones that don't go directly to voicemail, anyway. Google seemed pretty good about it - probably because I explained that I had already done two factory resets using two different methods to no avail.

One problem that did persist between two different phones is the agonizingly long connection time for outgoing calls. After calling a number, phone won't connect for up to 25 seconds. This happened on two different phones through a few factory resets. This has to be a Sprint problem. Need to double check the forums but didn't see this problem posted, yet. I was gonna start a thread on if, if not..

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

I have experienced the long delay on outgoing calls too. It is a google voice integration issue. I disabled good voice integration and calls now connect very fast.

Interesting that a new phone isn't showing the issue... It doesn't seems to fit the profile of a hardware issue.

Sorry, do you mean you completely deactivated your Google Voice service? ..or just how it interacts with your phone app (if so, how do you do that?). In other words, are you still able to utilize the Google Voice visual voice mail app?

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

I disabled the full integration but still use it for visual voicemail. Uninstall the google voice app. Go to the google voice website settings and disable sprint integration. You will then probably need to request a new google voice number. When that is setup, activate voicemail on the number you associated with the google voice account. When you reinstall the google voice app, make sure to choose the option to 'skip' sprint integration. Then it will only be enabled for visual voice mail.

I just got my Nexus 5 yesterday and I was having the same problem. However, if I touch the phone icon and drag right, it works. It is just particular about "where" you swipe when to answer the call. Not a big problem for me because the phone speed and graphics are amazing so far. :)

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

I was having the same problem but I called myself from another phone and tried different things. If I touch the phone icon in the middle and swipe right, it answers with no problem. It actually showed kind of an icon connection (I don't know how else to explain it) when I did it right. The phone is still fine for me because the graphics and speed are amazing!! Hope you found your solution.

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

I have a Play Store Nexus 5 (Sprint). After swiping to the right (green phone icon) I have to do one more step. I need to open the dialer and punch 1 to answer it. It's a pain but works. I wish I could answer by just swiping to the right (green phone icon).

Thank you Debbie White! You are my savior!

How silly can Google be? It is a simple trick, but one Google ought to explain to their nexus 5 users. I tried pressing on the silly white phone, swiped up, down, tried to press on the little green phone... nothing did not occurred to me to swipe right. So simple.

Google shame on you! How stupid and inconsiderate to your users not to document this issue that has cause many to return their phones and despair on many forums. You seem incapable of reading our complains and answer with a simple explanation. I'm really pissed at you!

I've been bashing my head against a wall here trying to figure out this issue. Trying to find out if it was an issue with Sprint or LTE turning things on and off. Turns out, I was messing around with the ART runtime and my guess would be the dialer isn't too compatible with it. Went back to dalvik and everything seems to be working perfectly. Hope this helps someone.

I am having the same issue :(
My friend who is having a nexus 4 is affected too. He told me that this is happening to him after the 4.4.2 update

I am from India and I ordered thru the playstore

I hope they will fix it soon.

I couldn't answer and did a reset - now the only thing that seems to work is the call answer. All aps are gone no camera, no contacts, no email, no web access.

I'm having this problem, too. Tell me exactly what I am supposed to dfo to make it work. I think I have been doing it the right way, but perhaps it is my fault.

Just so we know what may help, please let us know what you have tried so far, also are you rooted, did you have this problem since you owned the phone, etc.?
