Can't believe iPhone X has a better and bright screen than our Note 8

But that was two months ago like this Android Auth article using the same company. That's just the way things go.

There's a test for what people consider prefect? Interesting concept.

Note 8 has the best screen EVER attached to a power source. This has been proven in rigorous testing and scientific research in the independent labs of DKBDisplay Testers, Inc.

"The Note 8 has the BEST DISPLAY EVER ATTACHED TO A POWER SOURCE!"

See? When THEY put things in "quotes" like that, THEY mean it!

Anyway, Note 8 wins. NEXT! //uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171107/d30f2ff4b908cb6049dabb73be706c2e.gif

So let's just say one is better... If you were to look at the phones with your eye I promise you they both will look good. They are top notch displays. If one is brighter then the other.. does it truly matter? I don't count brightness as a key thing. As long as I can see it in sunlight that is good enough for me :).

Technicallythe iPhone X is the only one wtih the "top notch". ;) LOL :D

I really don't care. I love the screen on the Note 8 and having experience with a friend's iphone 8--we switched phones for a couple of hours just to see how the other half live--I was only confirmed in my lack of interest in anything iphone. It's the whole ecosystem thing. If my Note is a shade less bright, it's still gorgeous and not Apple.

The Note 8 can go brighter under the overdrive thing on auto brightness. But the iPhone can go brighter on manual setting.

This.

The iPhone has a more color accurate screen though, even on basic mode. To date the most color accurate screen Samsung has launched based on displaymate scores is the S7.

This too. The iPhone 7 generation was more accurate than the S7 series, S8 series and Note 8 already, this iPhone X just widened the gap in both sRGB (Samsung's basic) and in DCI-P3.

I don't understand why it would be a surprise... the X is a newer phone even if by a couple of months.

In those couple of months time things change fast... from having the highest rated camera the Pixel has jumped the Note and now has the best camera and now the iPhone first camera hitting over 100 in one of dxomark subscores. The Note actually dropped to 5th on dxomark site.

The S9 will be out in a few months and the cycle will start again.

I'm not sure that's entirely accurate. The Samsung phones in 2017 never made it to the top of the charts over the 2016 Pixels until the Note, and then only after the scores were modified to favor having dual cameras. The OG Pixels still out perform the Note 8 on the most important metrics, and generally by a lot, but they fall behind on zoom and bokeh due to the hardware difference on those two metrics. And those two metrics are an abnormally large part of the overall score. As far as I know there's no expectation that the S9 will pass the Note 8 and iPhone 8+, let alone the X or Pixel 2.

If you are typing on an iPhone 10 than it is an aphone. their new phone can't accept an "i" the phone's auto correct keeps changing I to A.

One of my customers had an iPhone X. The thing was TINY.

Can't wait until the burn-in issues start rolling in. Apple is already prepping for it by warning users before the phone's release.

All I was really suprised about that Samsung supplied a screen that's as good as the note 8 screen to them.... Plus I had read numerous times the iPhone X would be 50 percent as bright as our note.... I was surprised that's all. I luv my note 8...

I picked up the X and by far the note screen is better the X is not apples best device to day it was actually very disappointing.

Brighter can certainly be measured objectively by specs, tests, etc. "Better," however, is in the eye of the beholder. Plus, even with the addition of specs for comparison, I always take review sources like this with a grain of salt. The reviewers' biases have to be taken into account here; as well as their preferences for those specific devices.

With regards to burn-in, I agree with the user who stated that we may see more Apple users with burn-in due to the nature of the iPhone X screen. I guess only time will tell.

Did they state that backwards? We already know (premise of the thread) that the Note 8 is not a better display.
o4liberty said he thought the note's screen was better so I asked him why.

We know by some technical aspects the iPhone X's screen is better as displaymate has confirmed, but the note 8 does have some aspects that are better imo. For example, it has more a bigger resolution, more ppi, more saturation based on what I heard, and there's no notch at the top of the screen.
