Can't connect to camera?

Mine is Alcatel 918N which showed "Cannot connect to camera" error about two days ago. It's a 2.3.6 android. I have somewhat solved the problem by connecting my phone to a pc thru a USB cable and scan my phone SD card using IObit malware fighter. I turned off the phone before pulling out the USB cable. I turned on the phone and viola the error was gone. Hope this help you.

Holding down the volume/power/back button worked for me!!!!!! Just make sure you hold them down for longer than 30 seconds.
(The first time I did not hold down long enough, so it did not work.) Second attempt, I held for longer than 30 seconds and it worked!

Thanks!

Worked for me too! Such a crazy fix, opened into fastboot then closed it and restarted the device and its worked ever since!

It stopped working a day later, I've just tried a fix that Google support suggested when I contacted them ....

"Go to Settings > Apps,Camera, and then touch Force stop.
Go to Settings > Apps, Camera, and then touch Clear cache.
Go to Settings > Apps, Camera, and then touch Clear data. Caution: Any data saved in this app will be erased.
--------
Then restart your device without opening the camera or any other applications that use the camera "

It has worked so far for me, I will keep you updated

This fixed it for me!

Method 3. Go to Settings – Developer options — find “Use NuPlayer” and uncheck it & restart.
(If you can’t find the Developer options, go to Settings — About phone — Touch “Build number” 7 times to enable the Developer option)

Nexus 4 running stock 5.0.

I can't post a link to site I got this from yet but its on the pntbrother site

Hey, I am using Google Nexus 5. I had exact same issue, and I found very helpful article about fixing this can't connect to camera problem. I had to activate developer option, I had to change something there. Go here and follow their method **Link removed by moderator**

Could you provide a walk through step-by-step rather than pointing to another webpage/article to read? Aside from helping everyone in this thread having the same issue it would also help the community as a whole to have the information posted in this thread.

Thank you in advance for your help.

What worked for me: I deleted many unneeded pics from my phone (culprit usually whatsapp instagram etc)
This created storage space on my phone. Now camera comes up. Its weird that its a space issue.

Guys!!! I have faced this error today... Just do simply these steps:
"Settings->About Phone->System Update"
This will remove this error...

can you be more specific?
Holding down the volume/power/back button
from the stalled (black) pre-camera screen, or home screen, or when powered off?
volume up? phone shut itself off after about 10s. tried a couple times, no change.
volume down? would take a screenshot.
and for the back button, you mean the on-screen triangle to back out of apps?
been two weeks without a camera.... :(

unfortunately "Use NuPlayer" is no longer an option on 5.1.1. :(

awesome!!! I didn't know about that one - unlocked some cool options! thanks!

was it fixed for good, or did the problem come back? if so, were you able to fix it again?

I deleted about 1/3rd of my photos (and associated thumbnails) to make space and rebooted, still doesn't work. :(
