Can't copy/paste into body of gmail

I have a samsumg tablet (galaxy tab A 2016) that recently had a software update. Since then, I can't copy/paste from the clipboard in gmail. When I do the long click option, the only option that comes up is "format". I can't even do "ctrl v". For some reason, I can still copy/paste into the subject line of the email, but not in the body of the email where it's actually useful.

I have a samsung phone, and I can still copy/paste as normal.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you trying to paste directly into the body of the email without typing anything there first? If so, try typing anything first (like "Hi") just so that there's text there to begin with, then long-press where the text is and see if you get the Paste option.
