My Droid X is 2.3.340, rooted with z4root. I have both Droid X Bootstrapper and the premium version of ROM Manager installed. I used ROM Manager to dl the latest RubiX rom. I've already backed up my nand with Bootstrapper. Whenever I try to flash RubiX from Rom Manager (I select both Back Up My Rom, and Wipe Data) my phone boots into the stock recovery screen, the progress bar moves about 20% up, than the infamous android/triangle/exclamation icon appears and my phone reboots to the stock rom. I have no bloatware frozen or removed. Any idea why this is happening?

Have you tried to install it through BS as an update? Don't know, sounds BS isn't flashed.

make sure clockwork recovery is installed in rom manager

I would suggest that you bypass rom manager and install via bootstrapper...like john said.

Downloaded the latest RubiX Blurry for. 340. Renamed it to update.zip and put in my sd root, BS recovery forced me into clockwork, I wiped data/cache and tried to install update.zip and the installation would abort while unpacking, saying it was bad. I restored, launched Rom Manager, updated Clockwork, followed the same process as above but now instead of failing at the unpack, recovery stops than relaunches itself. This is killing me!

Hmmm, I know it will sound mundane, but try downloading the rom again, from another source and install again from Clockwork BootStrap, forget rom manager.

Another possibility is a corrupt MicroSD card, try reformatting it, after removing all files of course. ;)

Dump ROM Manager, it has been causing issues latly... Download rom to sd and flash with Bootstrap.

I tried EVERYTHING you guys suggested. Same issue:

Installing: SD:update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted

I have no idea what is wrong here.

Try installing it without renaming the file to update.zip, use Select Zip File From SD Card, or whatever it's called instead.

+1 for that
the only reason you'd ever need to rename it update.zip is if you are trying to use stock recovery to flash a sign moto update. in fact i'm not even if sure if stock recovery can install an update.zip if it's not signed by moto

bootstrap into Clockwork and "install update from sd"
then browse to where ever you put the blurry.zip on your sd card and install it that way.
should work fine.

I agree with both posts above.

1. Download from a source other than rom manager and do not rename.
2. Reboot into clockwork recovery then erase cache/data.
3. Select install from .zip in options
3. Pick the option that allows you to manually select the zip from your SD card.
5. Navigate to then select the rubix zip and verify by selecting yes, it will then flash the new rom.

You cannot simply rename the file and try to OTA update, its not signed by moto so it will fail.
