I have a problem getting bubbles with WhatsApp to work. I have bubbles enabled and in WhatsApp's notification settings I have it set to 'all conversations can bubble' but the icon to 'bubble' it won't appear in the bottom right of the notification. I tried reinstalling it and restarting my phone but it simply refuses to work. With telegram it works just fine as with other apps that support it but not WhatsApp. What could be the issue?

Device info
Device: Nokia 8.1
OS: Android 11; Security patch level: May 2021
App version: 2.21.12.21

First I think you may have posted this in the wrong place. I know it says Apps but I think this forum is meant for those developing apps. We'll see what @B. Diddy thinks.

In the meantime, has it ever worked for this app?

I would probably do something in this order;

Clearing the app cache. The path to do that would be something like, Settings>Apps>WhatsApp>Storage>Clear cache. Then force stop the app, reopen it and test.

If that has no effect I would try reducing the number of messages before the next step. Since I don't know WhatsApp, what I'll say is that I've seen some messaging apps that bog down or start to experience problems when they exceed a number of messages. Especially if there are a lot of pics and vids in those messages. After reducing the number of messages I would probably repeat the cache clear and force stop.

As a near last resort, and again I don't know WA to know if you'll lose any messages due to this so if possible back-up and save what you can before, clearing the app data. This will likely require you to log-in to the app again, change any settings you changed before for preferences and like I said may cause some message loss. The path to do this is similar to clearing the cache and again force stopping afterwards.

The final resort would be to uninstall the app and install it again. Again taking all of the precautions mentioned in the clearing data advice about backing up and saving anything you can before doing this.

It's ok to keep this thread in this forum. The Android Apps forum used to be intended for developers who are promoting their apps, but a little while ago we decided to stop moving threads from this forum to others.
