Can't get emojis to work on my Moto E

I have been thru all the settings on my Google keyboard and I can't get emojis to work on my Moto E, even though I have all the toggles turned on for the emojis. I've reset the app and restarted and it just doesn't show emojis when I send a text

Which message app ? Try resetting it by clearing data then force stop

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean that you can't even see the emoji option in the keyboard app, or that you send emojis, but can never receive them?

Are you definitely using Gboard, or some other keyboard app?
