Can't install apps from computer?

When I try to put an app onto my phone that I had as an APK file on my computer it says "There was a problem parsing the file" or something like that, I've tried 3 different methods to get the file onto my phone:
- Uploaded file to Mediafire and tried downloading via phone
- Sent from computer to e-mail
- Tried manually putting the APK file into my phone via USB.

It has worked on all of my other phones. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I have since fixed my problem, turns out it will only install an app if it gets it from a Google service like Dropbox or Google Drive and not a third party website/service. Bit annoying but it'll have to do.

You can also check over at XDA for some other ways to possibly fix it. It's a known issue with 4.3 Moto G's.

I'm fine with putting them into my Google Drive, it's actually quite convenient in a way.
