Hi,
I live in Brazil and just got a Kindle Fire. I just noticed I can't buy apps (or video or music) from Amazon since I'm outside the US. I tried to go to the android market but I was redirected to the Amazon App Store automatically... Later I discivered that if I updated the firmware I could go to the androi market, so I've updated the firmware to system version 6.2.1 in the hope that I'd have access to android market, but the market website doesn't recognize Kindle device, just my android phone. So I'm stuck with a tablet that can't install apps!
I thought about downloading APKs from other sites and just install them with a File Manager, but I don't even have a File Manager in the tablet, and can't get/buy one from the Amazon App Store... so I can't run any APKs...
Any ideas on how to get out of this circle? Am I missing something?

Cheers!

You cannot. Amazon has deals with content providers, USA only. But....
If you spoof your IP address you can trick the Kindle into thinking you are in the USA.

First you will need a friend in the USA to give you his/her IP gateway subnet mask, etc. If you are lucky, all you need to do is enter the info into your router.

Next option is to create a VPN with someone you know in the USA. While connected through the VPN, your kindle will think it is in the USA.

try getjar (though I'm not sure if its in Brazil) go to getjar.com where you can download getjar and get file managers and such.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I just discovered that i could start an .APK with Quick Office, an app that comes with the device. I just entered Quick Office, and, instead of opening a .DOC file I tried an APK and it gave me the option to run it! So, I installed a File Manager, and installed all the rest from .APKs I DLded from other places.
I'm not sure if the VPN option would work because Amazon checks not only my IP but the address in my credit card too. :(

I was in the same boat living in the Bahamas. Has taken me days to sort it out. Had to get File Expert from CNET in order to browse files on the Fire. Found out later as mentioned above that QuickOffice has a way of exploring the files. Obviously can't download from Amazon store or Android Market. In order to do that have to do a root job which I'm not up to yet (at least for the Android market). I can't get any of the free apps at Amazon either. Can't use my first month of free prime. Was really pissed off at first but after digging deeper I've found a cartload of good stuff that transferred effortlessly over to the Kindle. Calibre is a must for transferring any type of ebook into Kindle form. Works great. isoHunt is the best torrent engine I've found for ebooks. Tons of stuff. Best app I found was EVERNOTE. Got to get it from either CNET or the manufacturers site though or you'll end up at Amazon store or Android Market again. Loads onto cell phone, PC and Fire and syncs all your notes. Its free and is the best app I've seen for the Fire. Allows you to make notes, keep photos and web pages for distribution to all your devices. Works real good and works seamlessly and effortlessly.
Make sure you turn on the "Allow from Unknown Sources" in the settings. Make sure you copy files to the right folders or they won't work. I stick with apk's for the 'downloads" folder, doc's or txt's for the documents folder, mp3's for the music, mp4's for movies and jpg's for the pictures gallery.
Watch Free Movies Online, Watch Latest Movies Online For Free, Latest Hollywood Movie, Latest Bollywood Movie streams 1000's of movies including all the new movies, free, and works great on the Fire. You need no other movie source.
There's a free program called Freemake Video Converter (google it) which converts anything to anything. Major program and open source. It's the VLC of file converters.
M.GETJAR.COM is the best site I've found for free Fire apps.
I've been an Amazon customer for many years, using my Bahamas credit card and no problem. These attempts by Amazon to keep their content and use of the Fire proprietary are cringe worthy and will lose them a lot of customers for this device. You really have to be computer savvy in order to make this device useable outside of the US and in order to take control of it even if you live in the US.
However, after conquering some of the heavy obstacles I faced I am now really happy with this device and can see it becoming my main device, more so than my phone (my eyesight's getting bad).

Thank you all for the replies, specially Bahamared, who gave me many good tips. I just couldn't use movies25, it asks for the download of some file with a .bin extension, and Kindle Fire didn't know what to do with it.
Instead of Evernote, wich really is a good app, I use Springpad. It works fine both in the PC and in the Android phones/tablets. Here goes some links:

Springpad: a free app that helps you remember
and
GetJar | Mobile | Search Amazon Kindle Fire Apps

For the videos I'm currently DLing the movies, converting them to mp4 with FormatFactory and watching with the tablet. It's a pitty that Amazon doesn't want my money for their movies and songs...
