For the past day now I have been trying to unroot my htc inspire. From what I've read the steps you have to take are to download the stock RUU and turn S-OFF back to S-ON. I originally rooted my phone using the ace hack kit v11, found here... (ALL NEW AGAIN ON 04-29-2011) HTC Inspire/DHD Hack Kit V11 - xda-developers And after i rooted it had appeared to have everything right (had S-OFF, had rom manager, had superuser, etc.) but nothing else seemed to be working on my phone, i couldnt even download the weather or log into the market. After a while i just decided it would be easiest to unroot my phone and so far i was able to get S-OFF back to S-ON using the ace hack kit v11 but was unsucessful and reinstalling the stock RUU, i also couldn't install the RUU from this thread at xda... [ROM]RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_2 6.06.04.06_M_release - xda-developers It would always get stuck on loading bootloader (my phone would have a black background with silver HTC letters) and then eventually it would just say error 171. Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is my first time rooting a phone and it can be very frustrating.

Also when i try to install the "shipping RUU" from the ace hack kit v11 it always gets stuck on "sending zip" again while the phone is black with silver HTC letters.

Did you flash a different rom after rooting? The hack kit leaves you with the downgrade rom which is used only for the root exploit. It is not intended to be kept on the phone and many things do not function properly with it.

yea you were right, being the idiot that i can sometimes be i never flashed a rom (but hey its my first time after all) but I just successfully flashed CyanogenMod, so now that i can get it to work i will probably just keep my phone rooted but hopefully this time I'll be able to unroot it when I want to. Thank you for your help
