Can't login to Google account from Sony TV

[Android Central Question]

I have a Sony Bravia (Android TV, obviously) and when I try to login to my Google account, I enter email and password, then I get the 2FA on my phone (Google authenticator). I confirm it's me and after a few seconds, the TV returns to the password page instead of logging me in. This is driving me crazy!
