Hi everyone. I've been having this problem since I started rooting my Note, and I haven't the slightest clue how to fix it. Basically, when I boot to TWRP recovery and try to do a wipe (the default wipe which includes wiping cache, Dalvik, and formatting data), the recovery hangs on "Formatting /data using make_ext4fs function," and after about two minutes the application restarts. If I attempt to flash a ROM after that, I get "Can't mount /data," and other can't mount errors and even though Aroma loads fine, the tablet gets stuck on the boot screen (Samsung logo). Someone on the TWRP website suggested that the tablet is encrypted but I never encrypted the device myself. I even tried installing CWM but it didn't seem to work.
Thanks for reading!

The storage where make_ext4fs is trying to format a partition may be bad, so it can't create a /data partition, so the partition (since it doesn't exist) can't be mounted. That normally indicates a bad motherboard.

In my experiences with the note 10.1 2014 edition (WiFi only) I have figured out that due to a lack of development we will never or at least not anytime soon get a recovery that can easily and properly flash a ROM, a few months ago I tried to flash cyanogen mod as well as a few others on the tablet but twrp just said that it could not install on incompatible hardware. When I tried flashing Hydronium ROM on clockwork mod my tablet never got part the Samsung logo. The only function of twrp that works properly are: creating nandroid backups and recovering from them, flashing anything but ROMs, and having the ability to easily brick your tablet. However I recently got a lgl90(d415) (it is a phone) and I installed cyanogen mod on it using the twrp from a developer on XDA, I used the same steps as when I tried to flash it on my tablet but this time it worked due to the amazing developers for my phone. Essentially you can modify the tablet using Xposed framework and other tools but you cannot flash a ROM for the SM-p600.

I recently updated to twrp 2.8.6 and I was able to flash cyanogen mod 12.1, maybe the new version of twrp will work for you.
