Cant search for albums and artists in Google Play Music

I have just purchased a new car - SEAT Ateca, brilliant - with Android Auto. So have downloaded AA onto my phone and taken out three months premium membership on Google Play Music (I am new to both). They work up to a point but I cannot select music by Albums or Artist. I can listen from Playlist but this does not allow me to select desired music. Is this a problem with GPM or me?

You can't manually search by album or artist. You have to use a voice command.

Best bet is to make playlists. Play Music is a bear.
