Can't turn notification sounds off - have to mute media volume

I'm on a a Samsung S7.

Under Settings > Sound I have 'Vibrate' checked. However, I'm still hearing notifications - in fact I often get several at once, it sounds like an echo.

The only way I am able to shut the sound off is by muting Settings > Media.

Anyone have any ideas?

So do you not want to hear notifications at all, just some apps, just certain times of day, just certain apps?

Is this something you want to toggle easily based on what you have going on?

Is there just too many notifications from one app, i.e. you're in a conversation with someone and get a notification and they quickly send another message and you get sound for both of them almost simultaneously, when you feel you only needed the one?

I could go into a thousand scenarios for different situations not knowing your true goal or problem but I think it would be better and easier if you become a member so that you can respond in this thread and we can have a two way conversation. We could also get your question posted in the S7 thread where other S7 owners can easily chime in with help and advice. Becoming a member is free and only takes a few minutes to set up and it will make getting help much easier.
