Capacitive Buttons

Is there a way to make the capacitive buttons stay "lit" while using my Atrix 2? They come on when I touch them but what's the point in that?

They should brighten automatically when sensing darker areas.

plus that will shorten battery life if always lit

Change screen brightness under the display setting from auto to whatever percent of brightness looks good for you.
