Somehow, the password of my Gmail account is being stolen from my phone. I changed the password and have only logged in on my computer for the past couple of weeks. This of course means that I can't check my email or visit the market on my phone. I finally have some time to take care of the whole thing and reinstall only the trusted apps that I enjoy using (twitter, facebook, etc.).

I know how to do the reset by going from Settings>Security>Privacy>Reset, but that doesn't completely clear the phone. I want to get it back to the state it was in directly out of the box...nothing on it at all. I performed the reset I just described and made a fake gmail account to test and see if its password gets stolen. If it does, how would I do a complete reset? Thanks.

On your dial pad type

*2767*3855#

That will do a factory reset.

That's what he already did - by going through the privacy > reset settings that performs a factory reset. To completely wipe your phone, you need to unmount the internal SD card and then reformat it. Take out your external SD card before doing so.

If you call samsung they will give you the instructions how to do a factory reset. I tried that to remove "update1" from my phone. It didnt work though. If I find those directions i will post them for you. It involved squeezing both the up-down volume buttons and the power button simultaneously to start the phone in a different mode. not exactly sure though...

Cyraxx,

Did you install any pirated / questionable apps?

If so, the loss of your gmail password might be the least of your worries.

Not trying to be rude, just hoping to help the diagnostic(s)...

Turn phone off and wait for it to be off. Hold down vol up + vol down and then hold the power button. When you see the AT&T logo, let off the power button but keep the vol up and vol down button pressed. This will take you to recovery mode where you can do a factory reset. It will erase everything, you've been warned :)
