My headphone Jack is working fine, but as I connect a 3.5cable to my car auxiliary input, it won't recognize and the sound will still come out my phone. How can I make the sound come out from my car?

My headphone Jack is working fine, but as I connect a 3.5cable to my car auxiliary input, it won't recognize and the sound will still come out my phone. How can I make the sound come out from my car?

Very basic question. Have you tried replacing the cord? It works like a charm for us. We also have used a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the aux port of the stereo and that works well too.
