Car Dock and Home Dock

Alright, I purchased the car dock yesterday even after finding that the phone doesn't fit the dock with a case. There is a small, thin insert that, once removed, is supposed to allow the phone to fit in with a case on it. Does anyone know if there is a case that will work? The Speck case would almost work if the back of the case weren't so thick(that's to say that the micro usb plug appears to be long enough).

Also, does anyone have the home dock? Does the phone fit in this dock with a case on it?

+1 for the answer to the home & HD dock fit with a case.

Sucks that the car dock doesn't work with a case. I wonder if you can cut out the back somehow... but guess I won't be getting the car dock then.

With your home dock can you use the mirror app and plug the HDMI cable into the TV do things like web surf, play games(angry birds etc..)?

I tried setting up my cardock today...it goes into the cardock mode perfectly fine but it doesn't charge. What's up with that? I thought it was supposed to charge the phone if I plug the USB part of the cord into my cigarette lighter adapter thing, and the microUSB into the back of the car charger. I followed the directions and I even unplugged the microUSB part out from the back of the cardock and put it back in to make sure it was in correctly and securely enough. I also tried two different USB ports connected to my cigarette lighter thing. I use this same plug to play my zune everyday, and I used it in the past to charge my Bold 9000 with a car charger.
But this dock won't charge!

Can anyone shed some light on this? I feel like such a doofus that it's not working...I mean really all you do is plug the microUSB into the back of the cardock, set the cardock up on your dash securely, put the phone securely into the cardock and let it go to cardock mode, and plug the USB part of the cord into the adapter of your cigarette lighter, and it's supposed to go "WAH-LAH!" and begin charging, right? :-\

You might have a faulty unit. I used the cable that came with the kit and works fine.

Great. Guess I'll be making yet another trip to the AT&T store again. They'll exchange the cardock, right?

You're not the only one wondering if you're a doofus with the car dock. Mine charges but doesn't switch to car mode when placed in the dock. Found elsewhere on the forums something about playing around with the order you do things - like plug the dock in, turn your bluetooth off, dock the phone. Will fool around with all the variables before I go back to the store...

Use the Body Glove here and works perfect in car dock with the extra plastic piece out of the unit.

Car dock is amazing BTW.

I'm having this problem also, it charges but no audio through the aux and it never switches to car mode.

I just made a post about the car dock...

Here you go... http://forum.androidcentral.com/atrix-accessories/73666-those-considering-car-dock.html

One this I forgot to mention is that there is an app that can put you into car mode since you aren't using their over priced dock. Check out the link and save you some money, time, and hassle.

I don't know what your idea of overpriced is but my vehicle docks are worth the price I paid. If I add up the prices of a holder, an interface cable, and a charger it is cheaper.

I have heard that some have gotten the dock without the charger. That would make it not worth the money.

Well consider that almost everone should have a mini usb car charger laying around. I had +4. Also, unless they have never listened to music through anything but their receiver, they should have something laying around. I had tons of tape adapters laying around from all my discman purchases from way back when.

If you dont have these things, your looking at probably $5 for a tape adapter and $5 for a charger on Amazon. Add it all up and its still cheaper.

Plus, the winner for me was that I dont have to remove my case to use it.

Which app will put you into Car Dock mode? I see lots in the market but which one for the Atrix? Thanks so much!

That is a good point.

I was conning from having a universal mount for my work truck, a pro clip for my personal truck and a bunch of wires all over the place so for me it was worth it.

I guess I should have remembered YMMV. ;)
