Case for your Maxx

Its deff smaller than the otter box it fits very well and the buttons or much more responsive now. Was hoping for a UAG but this will have to do.

Hey Dobo,

Would you consider posting a coupla photos of that case?

Thanks either way.

Anybody buy a perforated case on eBay? Also the tudia melody series looks like a decent cheapie.

I have great luck with the Otter Box commuter case. I have dropped my phone a number of times and I have not had any issues.

Is it just me, or is there no video out there of a drop test for the Droid Maxx? I really want to know how it holds up without a case.
I did buy a TUDIA Ultra Slim Melody Series TPU Protective Case for it, but in all honesty I much prefer my phone without a case at all. That extra piece of mind knowing it could survive a drop relatively well would be nice.

The problem with drop tests us they are not scientific nor do they prove a thing. If I drop my phone from 50 feet and you drop your phone from the same does that mean we will have the same results? No, depending on the landing angle one phone may break and the others won't. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone go "I'm confident because the drop test video I watched proved my phone can survive a fall". However, shortly after they say this they drop their phone and it shatters and were talking about how fragile it is.

Same goes for Gorilla Glass and scratches. Videos show keys doing no damage which is true but then sand touches the surface and now the glass must not be Gorilla Glass.

Me neither. I hate how cases ruin all the elegance of the device... but I totally understand, and I'll be kicking myself every time I drop my Maxx.

I need to come clean. In a previous post in this thread I alluded to not using a case, but I've been thinking about how much I love this phone and how bad it would suck to drop it and break it or scratch the screen, 6 months to 1 year into a 2 year contract. I still hate having the phone in a case... any case, but... I have to admit... I 'm using a case.

I put a Skinomi screen protector on it, which is nice. The glass of the screen wraps around the front of the phone a little and the Skinomi covers virtually all of it. I bought one of the cheapest case I could find, the Matte Black Diztronic, and put that on it.

This case/screen protector combo is terrible. The front of the case keeps pealing up the edges of the screen protector on the sides of the phone. Eventually, I pull this crap off the phone and use it as god intended, but for now I sleep like a baby knowing... my baby... is relatively safe.

****. I have that combo. Ordered the Skinomi which will be here today. Have the Diz on it now.

Love the Diz. I had the Qmadix s series on there and I felt like I had a VCR in my pocket.

If I get this phone I'm thinking either the shell case with the holster or the Otterbox with the holster. I like being able to clip the phone to my pocket or pants when I don't feeling like carrying a purse. Does the Otterbox case with holster protect the front/screen like the shell case does?

My wife has the Otterbox Defender on her XT1080M. You can put it in the holster screen in or out

I don't like cases that make phones feel super thick. I got the Otterbox Commuter case and I like it a lot. The only thing I would say I don't like about it is the volume and power buttons feel a bit stiff. Not unmanageable, but noticeable

I'm now inclined to get a mobile pocket pouch / sleeve case. Anybody know of a good one that fits well for the Droid Maxx? The Note 2 sleeves are kinda big, and I don't know if the ones for the S3/HTC One will fit with the Maxx.

We have 2 Maxx's. Wife tried the Otter and i went with the Verizon (NOT Griffin) "bumper". She swapped to a bumper too, which is reputed to give excellent drop protection. The otter spoiled the thin profile. I use a thin leather slip case (actually a pipe tobacco pouch I had) to protect the screen from keys, etc, when I carry it in my pack. Only downside of the otter and bumper is the buttons require a little more push to operate since they are covered with rubber. I hear it loosens with time.

My two previous smartphones went "naked", but I picked up the Diztronic TPU case for my MAXX. The glass going so far out to the edge made me nervous that there's just nothing else there to absorb shock if I dropped it. I dropped my RAZR all the time, not because I'm clumsy, but because I tend to keep my phone in my shirt pocket, and then end up leaning over for something, and out it comes. I have yet to drop my MAXX, but it made me just nervous enough to get a case. It added fairly minimal bulk, looks and feels nice, and gives a little something to absorb the shock of a drop. Though if I continue to not drop it, I may risk going naked again.

How are you liking the case so far? I have had the same one for about 2 weeks, and I am really liking it. The case did add a minimal amount of bulk, but I can deal with that over a cracked screen.

I like it pretty well. Decent amount of protection for minimal added bulk, and it looks and feels nice. Only other case I'm tempted to look at is the Verizon bumper.

That VZW bumper is the nicest bumper case I have ever seen, next to the poetic borderline.
