Case for your Maxx

That's looks like a good option.
Have you seen them sold at local retailers?
Anything without the buddroid design?
Would you say it's grippy on the front lip too? I'm looking for something that won't slide too much when placed on the seat next to me.

No, not local. Got mine from Amazon but they're also sold here on AC. They have different designs besides the bugdroid. As for not sliding in your car, I don't know if it's that grippy. This case doesn't give a lot of protection because it's very slim. Definitely adds no bulk at all. It. Looks good and makes the phone easier to hold and that's about the extent of it.

As a follow up to my previous post, here are a couple photos showing how the Diztronic case works with the Decoro holster. It's not a complete match/fit, but there's no play because the width of the phone in the case is just about perfect.

Ideal? No. But until Seidio comes out with something, it's what I'm going to use.

I am hoping Trident will come out with a Trident Aegis case for the Droid MAXX. This has been my overall favorite case for the last two phones. Provides better grip and reasonably good protection, but not too much bulk.

I tried the Otterbox cases on both my Droid Razr and my Droid Razr MAXX HD but found that the phone heats up too easily while using them. The phone even shut itself off once due to battery temp > 46 degrees Celsius.

Hmm.. I just ordered the Otterbox Commuter for the protection but really didn't think about heat. The otterboxes definitely go strong with the protection and with the MAXX battery being non-removable I am very concerned about keeping the battery health as good as possible. I've replaced the battery on almost every phone I've owned over the course of 2 years. Not being able to on the MAXX is scary :)

Just like with any cell phone battery, the battery retains memory. It will depreciate. But that is expected since the average phone's lifespan is 18 months. If you're really concerned about battery, get a Qi charger that shuts off automatically after reaching 100%. I think there are several out there.

Yeah. I know it's going to deteriorate over time. My goal is to minimize that deterioration. Heat is a big killer of batteries and I'm now concerned that the thicker Otterbox commuter I ordered might provide enough insulation to hasten the demise of the battery. :(

Going to have to do some tests before and after to reassure myself. Need to find a good battery app to look at the specifics of temp.

Do you drop your phone a lot that requires the otter box? Also consider what I stated about a Qi charger vs. Having to plug in the phone to charge. Inductive charging can lengthen the longevity of the phone.

Boy, I really think that's not true. From battery university http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_without_wires

Lost energy turns into heat and a wireless charger can get quite warm during charge. Any temperature increase to the battery causes undue stress, and batteries charged on wireless devices may not last as long on a mat as on the regular plug-in charger. It should be noted that the heat buildup only occurs during charging; the Qi wireless charger will cool down when the battery is fully charged.

Read the whole page. Also http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

Let?s look at real-life situations and examine what stresses lithium-ion batteries encounter. Most packs last three to five years. Environmental conditions, and not cycling alone, are a key ingredient to longevity, and the worst situation is keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures. ...

Batteries are also exposed to elevated temperature when charging on wireless chargers. The energy transfer from a charging mat to a portable device is 70 to 80 percent and the remaining 20 to 30 percent is lost mostly in heat that is transferred to the battery through the mat. We keep in mind that the mat will cool down once the battery is fully charged.

So, wireless charging has the advantage of dropping the charge, and the heat, when the pack is at full-charge, but the disadvantage of heating the pack while it is charging compared with regular plug-in charging. And plug-in charging really does drop voltage when full charge is reached.

It'd be interesting to see a good, long term test of battery capacity in controlled conditions for plug in vs. wireless charging. Until then, I'm not sure I'll believe that wireless is better for longevity than plugin.

You can get a Qi charger that outputs the proper ampage. Yes, heat is an issue, but I use a lower powered Qi charger to lower the heat output. So in theory, the battery isn't as depreciated as it would be plugged in.

The bumper case from VZW is actually pretty nice and cheap. The Kevlar back is open so you still get that nice smooth feel and there's a gray stripe around the edge that compliments the color scheme well. The light sensor has a cut out and while the buttons are covered its not that big a deal for me. It looks like part of the phone design rather than a big bulky case.

I just wish there was a way to create dust repellant cases it seems like I'm always brushing dust away from the edges on the screen ;-)

Think that just convinced me to go get that bumper from Verizon. Tried looking all over Amazon for something similar, but to no avail.

I got the Qmadix S case for my husband's Maxx when it was the deal of the day and he didn't like it. (Go figure!) Anyway, it was a great price and I didn't want to bother with sending it back so for the heck of it I tried popping my Ultra into it, expecting it to be too big. Surprise! It fit great and the phone was not loose at all - no slipping around, nice tight fit. So now I'm rockin' a nice red Qmadix case meant for the Maxx on my Ultra and loving it. Ironically I like it better than the 3 cases I bought specifically for the Ultra and haven't taken it off since I first popped it on. It looks wonderful, like part of the phone, and makes for easy gripping and holding. I really love it and recommend it for Maxx and Ultra owners!

I am not surprised it fit great. I believe the two phones are the same size, at least that is what I understood. I too have the Qmadix case that I also got in the deal of the day. I got the white. I like it too.

You'll like it I think ... Its just enough protection to prevent the screen from hitting a surface when laid down and doesn't get in the way.

Yea, I just thought because the Ultra is thinner the case designed for the Maxx would be loose, but I guess it's not that much difference after all. :)

I have an incipio Dual pro on my Maxx but I want to get something lighter instead! also it takes away from the phones overall look. I've been looking at the OEM kickstand case and holster or the Cruzerlite. Any suggestions?

How does the griffin reveal's rubber compare to the diztronic case? Is it close to the same quality?
