Cases and NFC

Will putting a case on the GS3 affect NFC? How about a really thick case like and otterbox. Thanks.

Good question, I sure hope not. If so then maybe they'll start leaving the back where the NFC chip is open. You know kind of like the otterbox with the apple logo on the back

I have a bulky Seidio case on my Nexus S and the NFC works fine... so I would assume most cases wouldn't affect the NFC capabilities of the S3?

While the range of NFC is very short (4 cm, which is only about 1.5 inches) it is still a strong enough signal to make it through a reasonable, non-magnetically shielded case

Well that's reassuring. I always like to put a case in my phone. Didn't want it to interfere with a feature of the phone.
