Cases and screen protectors?

Purchased a gray Speck Candy Shell from the nice AT&T lady this past weekend, who told me she was not supposed to release these suckers until later this week.

Review....

Pro's:
-quality case, well constructed with accurate cut-outs
-very durable w/corner protection
-no furbies from pockets

Con's:
-not as many color options to choose from
-a bit pricey ($35)
-adds more bulk than an incipio feather, hard shell

Enjoy the pics.

Oh wow, that thing is gorgeous. Me likie.

I asked OtterBox about cases like these and this was the response I received.

To be fare, however, these cases could our cases, with a third company creating a "skin" which adds colors. Either way, we haven't released the case yet and we are only creating the case in black. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me back.

I don't know if it's the terrible grammar, but I highly doubt those aren't real Otterboxes. They are shipped by legitimate sites like AC store, Amazon, and many other sellers; must be an awfully big counterfeit operation .

The CSR kind of just sounds misinformed, as the colored cases haven't been released yet either. I'm not sure how you add a "skin" to a case like that, but if they are then I'd be more than happy to buy from a seller that capitalize on Otterboxe's unwillingness to create options for it's customers.

The colors look real to me. Amazon them selves sell them. Not just from other retailers.

If I wanted to add as little bulk as possible, would the rearth ringke slim be the best fit for me? Basically I want something similar to a bumper but a TAD bit more protection

Edit: Also, is the ringke slim hard plastic or tpu/silicone material?

Do you have a screen protector on?

If so what one are you using?

I think the Rearth ringke slim would fit the bill, I ordered one while I wait for my phone, and it is a minimalist case, hard to imagine a functional case being smaller. It is plastic, the mate black has a rubberized finish.

I've gone onto the SpecklProducts.com website to order a case and the color I liked (that somebody linked above) is no longer available. Amazon doesn't have that color either. I hope they didn't already discontinue it. Ugh.

I've called OtterBox and gotten the same answer. I don't understand either. Just passing on what they told me.

I stick with OtterBox because I'm rough on phones and they have the best protection. And they replace cases without question.

Not liking how the bottom and top of the phone are exposed with those Nillkin cases. Boooo!! lol I'm sure they are nice otherwise. :)

Has anyone used ZAGG? Any good? Just not sure how I feel about the liquid spray!

I used it on my current phone (Droid). I did the entire phone, not just the screen. It was great in the beginning, but eventually starting peeling off so I took it all off. Also, I had issues with the screen not reacting always and would have to touch several times. I had Best Buy put it on and we must have gone through 5 packages trying to get it on right with no bubbles, etc.

I ordered Steinheil screen protector for the SG3 based on the consensus on this site. Originally ordered the Ultra Crystal but they just started selling the Nano, which is made for the SG3 (the curves, etc) so am getting that now. Can get on amazon for 13.99 plus I think 2.50 shipping. Comes in a package of 3.

I use Phantom Skinz because I have read numerous posts about the orange peel effect the ZAGGs have. There is a copuon code for 50% off of the Phantom Skinz and you get two sets of covers with each purchase. I would go with the Phantom Skinz or SGP if I were you.

using a liquid spray, you'll be fine, i used to install them all the time w/ my ipod.
just spray the protector, not the phone.

i ended up not using a skin and only using a case, with a screen protector.

i buy DCMUGEN's, from ebay, they're so cheap and they worked really well w/ my incredible.

$5 for 5, i can change them once a month and it'll last 5 months, and i'll come out a lot cheaper than other screen protectors.

check them out, it can't hurt to try them out for that price. you can buy one for a dollar, i think.

I have been looking everywhere for an iphone type bumper, not in aluminum.. Just can't get past the chance of signal loss...

Anyways, for the people in my boat, found this on amazon. Cant beat the price. I know have 3 cases and a skin to choose from. Decisions, decisions.... Most likely will use bumper + skin...

There's a big thread over at xda about the aluminum bumpers for the GS III...and they all say that it has not hurt any signals or functions! (No ugly holes in the corner either!) ;)

I had Best Buy install a ZAGG screen protector on my Fascinate about a year ago and so far it has held up fairly well. My only complaint is that it isn't very oil resistant and I constantly find myself cleaning the screen to remove oil.
