Cases with side protection?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to find a case with a lip around the sides of the phone and not just the top and bottom. I ordered the Otterbox Symmetry and it doesn't seem like it will have much drop protection due to the exposed screen, does the Defender have a lip around the sides? I really don't like the port covers but if there aren't any other options I might go with that. Any ideas?

The Speck Products Presidio line does. I think the defender does also, but I don't want the rubber flaps. Verizon and best buy carry the speck cases, go in and try it out. If you want to remove from case all the time speck is a little difficult taking off, it's a tight fit.

Thanks for the suggestions, I just checked out the Presidio but that thing is a visual monstrosity in my opinion. Also, it appears that the Defender doesn't have a raised lip around the sides after watching a video on it. This has been quite challenging.

The defender is GREAT. It has a nice protective lip all the way around and I love how the phone feels in the case.

Otterbox just needs to give up on those damn rubber port covers. At least lose them on the commuter case. There's a reason the symmetry is so popular, they don't have the rubber port covers. The symmetry case is what brought me to Otterbox, but on the edge phones it seems Otterbox can't get it quite right with the symmetry. The buttons are harder to push and some the phones can move around a little I've had both situations and the reviews show I'm not alone.

So, on the defender, how are the buttons to push? I've seen videos showing the bottom portion of the plastic doesn't lock, specially if you use their screen protector, the reviewers just say that's OK, that's what the rubber part is for LOL. How is yours there? And defenders are notorious for creaking sounds after some use, you notice any creaking sounds? Thanks a bunch

Yeah it's not the sleekest case out there, but the side of the case does come up even with the screen. So far it's the only case I've seen do that.

Finding a case for the S8 plus has been a challenge. I am currently using the uag plasma, but that doesn't come up to the screen edge either, but it is a nice case. It is feather light, don't know how to describe it, but it's like there is no weight added to the phone. I've tried so many cases and this is the one I keep coming back to. No fingerprint issues, no scratches on back of case. I have the ice one now, I think I'm going to get the citron so I can change it up here and there.

Good luck finding a case, just sharing what I finally settled on after trying several cases. I so far refuse to use the rubber flaps on defender.

The Speck Presidio Grip and UAG Monarch both have decent side screen protection.

UAG Plasma and Pathfinder have very low sides and offer little protection in those areas.

I have around 17 different S8 Plus cases and the UAG Monarch is my favorite by far and offers all around great protection.

Nope best side protection real high up sides and great top and bottom lip and sleek case......... Incipio dual pro. i own 2 and i own all the cases mentioned above. And the dual pro buries all of them which is why I bought two, I mix match colors. You wont be sorry.

I'll have to take a look at the monarch. I didn't think the plasma has very low sides. Watching videos I would go with the uag monarch over the defender because of the no rubber flaps on ports. Just wished uag offered more color choices in the monarch.. I definately would go the uag plasma over the Otterbox symmetry, to many reported issues on the symmetry, zero on the uag plasma, and I feel protection wise they both compare similar.

As the OP is seeing, several opinions on cases, that's why I said good luck. If possible visit stores that carry them and try them out. I have been told the uag is available at Verizon third party stores, that's where I found mine.

Edit.. Watched a video comparing the plasma and monarch, and the monarch does have a higher side by a little bit. I would compare it to the defender, just better IMO.

Everything locks in snugly. You have to make sure all the plastic tabs are snapped into place then the rubber cover is fitter properly over top. Buttons aren't too difficult to push. I guess the power button sort of is but not in an annoying way. It's a big beefy case so I expect some of that

Can you post a picture showing the side of the dual pro with the phone in the case?

Never mind, I just ordered a couple.

I might have to look into the dual pro. I'm so tired of looking at them though. Sometimes it seems we spend more time looking at cases then just enjoying the phone.

How grippy is the Incipio dual pro compared to the Defender? So far nothing I've tried matches the hand feel of the OtterBox defender.

Not as grippy, real nice feel grip in hand though. Its got a better feel in hand than Otterbox Defender

Looked at the monarch and the incipio dual layer today. Both give about the same side protection IMO, but the incipio you can Flex the rubber sides out easier, I hate that, and the incipio is a little on the slippery side, not horrible, just there. To me the monarch is easier to hold, seems lighter, and the sides don't Flex. I get employee discount on both cases so it's $22.50 higher for the monarch, if you have to pay regular price it's $30 higher.

I'll wait to see fell of truck opinion when he gets his incipio.
