Cases with side protection?

Thanks for all of the suggestions, guys. @trucksmoveamerica#AC, since you looked at them both yesterday, were the sides of the case sitting above the screen?
I wouldn't say above, just about even. You have to have a little screen to access the edge. The monarch is going to give you the best edge protection IMO. The incipio will also, it's just a little slippery on back, and the edges are flexible rubber. I think the monarch has better edge protection, but it's double the price.

Best way to describe the monarch and incipio is it kind of turns the S8 into a flat screen. For the people that don't want curved screens these are cases they should look at.

People are saying the defender has good screen edge protection also, I don't like the flaps covering the ports and I don't want to cut them off, so for that reason I would go monarch first choice.

Thanks for the info, I have the edge features disabled so that isn't an issue for me, I just need some drop protection so I'm not looking at a screen replacement if something happens. I haven't heard of the Monarch so I will check that one out. Have you seen the Defender in person? Just wondering if the lip is any higher. I'm not a fan of the port covers either but I will adjust if the protection is better. Thanks again.

EDIT: Just checked another video on the Defender and it definitely looks like the screen sits higher than the lip around the sides, might go with the Incipio unless there is a better option.

The incipio is definately the cheaper option and offers side protection. I would still say if you want the best protection for the sides and the phone itself, I would go with the monarch or defender. I would give the incipio a medium protection, the monarch and defender heavy duty protection.

The Defender does offer side protection but is not as overlap as exists at the forehead and chin of the case. If you assemble the polycarbonate inner layer properly, there should be no creaking. The silicone outer layer has great play on the buttons. I also wish that port covers were gone on silicone outer layer. If the gasket seals ever started to fail, having the port covers might be a good thing.

The creaking is there regardless. Every otterbox case I've had after awhile it does that.

The UAG Monarch looks nice but I would think the Defender offers more protection. The Monarch looks too thin. I might pick one up if the price drops but I like a thicker phone.

Have you called Otterbox? Granted, I was having an issue with the silicone outer layer of a previous Defender case model but they sent out a new one right away.

Might call em sometime. These newer Defenders the rubber doesn't seem to wear as much as in the past.

Taking the case off a lot is not good for it. In my experience it causes it to wear faster. I don't plan on taking it out anymore. I got the s7 edge for the VR headset which I rarely use anyway.

I'm hoping Incipio comes out with the performance series for the s8. If so I'll be ditching the Defender ASAP for it. I had it for my s7 and liked it, the level 4 one. The level 5 had a terrible screen protector that was cloudy.

My Defender has creaked a little since day one. At First I was thinking that meant it was cheap or defective. Now I'm used to it and don't even notice it anymore.

I will say this, every time I think about setting to one of my other 6 cases I decide not to because the Defender just feels so much better in the hand.

I agree the Defender case feels good in the hands. Makes a thin phone thicker and easier to handle which I like. I don't like those thing cases.

The Defender is the muscle cars of phone cases. Might not be the best looking and it is clunky, big but it performs well.

Would anyone with the Incipio and Defender cases mind posting pictures from the side? I just want to compare the lips of the two to see which is higher, assuming they aren't the same. From what I've gathered those two seem to be the best options for screen protection, from what I've seen in videos of the Defender the lip appears to be very minimal though.

1:14, screen looks like it sits higher than the lip of the case on the sides.

Watch.. After all of this research this will be the one phone I never drop. Lol.

The Defender is currently the most protective case out there for the S8 IMO.

Based on the 7 cases I've bought so far I agree.

I am also a huge fan of the Unicorn Beetle Pro Supcase, but I like that for it's slimmer profile and good looks, while I like the Defender for it's overall protectiveness and grippiness.

Incipio Dualpro in Sand color. Ordered two, tried to cancel my order but ended up with the sand color, black got cancelled.
Decent case with good side glass protection but way too slippery for me. :-\

Best all around case so far for the S8 Plus is the Speck Presidio Grip, bar none.

Wal-mart, the one close to me has the Incipio Dual Pro for $25. Thought about picking one up but I already got a Caseology Leigion which is similar and a good case.

The Otterbox Defender I think is the best case out for the S8 right now. I really like mine overall.

I'm going to try and get some pictures showing the "Side Protection" of the different cases I have over the next week or so.
These are not at the same angle and I have a glass protector on the phone.
Here are two for now.

Dual Pro isn't bad. Personally I would stick with Otterbox Defender for the S8 which I'm using now. It provides the best all around protection I think. If I was in a store buying the S8 and they didn't have Defenders, the Dual Pro would be my second choice.

I would like for Incipio to come out with their Performance Series cases for the S8. I'd buy their level 4 one in a jiffy if they do.
