"Cast Screen" gets choppy and disconnects after upgrade to Lollipop

Hello,

I own a Chromecast and a Samsung Galaxy S4. For almost a year, I was using the "Cast Screen" option on my phone regularly to watch full-screen videos in the browser, such as new episodes of Red vs. Blue on the roosterteeth.com website. Everything worked fine, but then my phone updated from KitKat to Lollipop, and suddenly screen casting a video does not work anymore. It starts out with both the video and audio being very choppy on the TV (although the video is fine on the phone), and it gradually gets worse. About 1 minute in, the video on the TV freezes, the audio returns to the phone, and the rest of the video plays out on the phone just fine. After another minute or so, the Chromecast shows a message which says something like "Chromecast has lost its connection to your device".

Screen casting works fine as long as I'm not streaming video. Also, YouTube and other Chromecast-enabled apps work fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central!

You should try doing a factory reset. The update to Lollipop has been causing a ton of issues with a lot of phones. Most the issues are fixed when a factory reset it done. Lollipop changed a lot of things in the way the OS works and more than likely jumbled some code up during the upgrade.

The samsung lollipop updates is a dissaster, also on my S5. But like mentioned, a factory reset did solve, some, if not all problems.
