Ok, I flashed it again so I could get a logcat this time. I'm attaching it now. Think you can help me out? I could use another home screen or 4![]()
Question about using the Gumbo ROM does it use the stock SMS or a different one?
and does it access the 1.5 market?
You're welcome. Nobody should be stuck with the Stock Hero IMO, and I'm just glad i could help.Just wanted to say that I flashed your Gumbo rom last night and I'm really happy with the improvements in my device. It's especially apparent in the speed of the interface, in general, vs. the stock rom.
Thanks for all the work you have put into it, gbhil, and I will be following the progress of the rom as you update.
Thanks again.
1 - Sorry I disappeared yesterday. Trying to clean up a few things so I can hand them off and be done with it, and it's just not going well. Everyday a new Toyota recall is causing me lots of grief in the real world
2 - I've done a bit of digging. There is some talk at Android Forums about this exact issue, but with the stock ROM. It seems like there are some issues with these apps:
"Java/J2ME Manager"
"Video Player"
"My Coupons"
"Gtaks"
"Handcent"
"CompSMS"
"Taskpanel X"
"Astrid"
"LocA"
on certain phones. The general consensus is that the phone in question is faulty. I don't buy that for one minute. To make things worse, Sprint claims that Shazam and TasKiller are known to cause issues with the Hero and say that everything on the list above might by the same way. I certainly don't buy that.
I know you have wiped, RUU'd and re-rooted. Did you flash both parts at the same time, and get these errors at first boot? You don't mention any 3rd party apps, so I'm assuming that you get these problems from a clean boot.
I know this is a PITA, but could you flash the whole complete Gumbo ROM and see how it boots up? If it works, the extra crapola can just be rm'd from the shell or deleted with root file explorer.
I don't wanna use you for a guinea pig to test out Sprint's ridiculous theory, just wanna get you the support to get up and running.
Stock SMS and yes.

I'm surprise to see handcent on the list there ! I have no issue with there program at all.But i believe what people are forgetting to do is to disable the default notification and message retrieval from the default stock sms and go to handcent and activate it there.Other then that it works great.
And that's when i was using stock rom.
can we send pictures with it unlike with the sprint version?
ok can the stock app be removed all together and replaced?
