CDMA Hero rooted

Heh, was just about to post that i think there was an issue installing the drivers but you beat me to it. I'll try what ya said. THanks

Ugh, still nothing though... even though I was pretty sure the device installation initially failed, I rebooted and did what you said. This time it said the driver installation was successful but I still get to the same point in the cmd window, no serial number.

Windows 7?

Run SDK setup from the android_sdk/tools directory. You will probably have to enable 'force http://' in the settings menu to download the index for the Setup menu. Let the SDK setup application install the drivers for you.

Or try another USB port.

K, giving that a try. If no dice I'm gonna just move to my laptop and start from scratch again. Seems like it's gonna take a long time for the SDK platform to download...

One other thing to try (if letting the SDK install the drivers doesn't work).
Connect to PC
Enable USB debugging
Pull down notification shade and click on Sync
See if HTC sync can find your phone.
If so, close HTC sync on your PC and try the commands.

There is no option to Sync on my notification shade. I checked HTC Sync anyway to see if it found it and it didn't :(

Have you verified the data cable works? Mount the sd card and copy a file to the card.

I hate Windows 7 lol.

Hmmm. I guess try your other PC. If the phone doesn't ask you to sync with the PC, and the data cable/usb port works, it's a windows driver issue. I'm the wrong guy to tackle that one.

Once you can get into the phone's shell I can help troubleshoot, or if worse comes to worse I can walk you through doing all of this on the phone itself. It's just much easier to do it from a PC with a keyboard.

Will this work on Heros on 1.5 and there a video somewere to show you how to do this?

PM Noj or 702DROID here on the forums. There is a point and click windows app to do it, but I'm not very familiar with it. I do things the old fashioned way lol.

Where do i find this windows app or at lest the name to look for it and will it work on 1.5 or will i need to downgrade or something?:o

So, I got around to retrying this with my laptop. Everything was going beautifully until the very end. When I try to flash the recovery, it gives me four "mtd: read error at ... (out of memory)" messages before returning to the # sound returns. Any suggestions?

Well, as we first thought a few weeks ago, it was the drivers on my desktop. I was bored today and tried it on my laptop and it worked easily. As far as todays issue, the flash wouldn't work, so I just rebooted, copied the flash file to the sd again and it worked. Running Fresh 1.1 atm and really like it. I also loaded that N1 bootscreen for fun, but now I want to find a cool lockscreen to match.

Question though. The ROM deleted Sprint TV/Quick Office from my phone, can I get those back without switching to a different ROM? Also, will the wifi tether only work if I have PAM active on my Sprint account? I tried it with an iTouch and it didnt work.
