Cell phone bands

Can someone help me please. I currently have T-Mobile and am looking at a lot of unlocked phones and I've noticed that not many phones carry the 1700 band. Correct me if im wrong, but doesn't t-mobile use the 1700/2100 band?

Yes, though bear in mind that 1700 and 1700/2100 are non-interchangeable, despite having the same frequency number in them. They're two distinct bands. That's why I prefer to go by band numbers rather than frequency: T-Mobile primarily uses bands 2 and 4, and they've begun rolling out service on band 12. Those are the bands you want to get the best service on T-Mobile.
