Cell standby draining battery, no SIM/cell service.

I have Samsung Note 1 WITHOUT a Sim card nor a data plan. Why is Cell Standby draining my battery @56? Device was off for 2 weeks and battery had 2%; it's recharging now. Also Device Idle is @38%. WiFi and Location Services are off. Device used infrequently on home WiFi or other free connections. Can someone please let me know what's wrong? Thanks

Even though you have no "cell service", or SIM card inserted you can still make emergency calls by dialling 911. So the radios are still on standby with or without an active SIM card.

If the device drained while powered off that could be just the natural drain of the battery. I'm sorry, but I didn't catch the phone model.

I agree with srkmagnus. The best way to avoid this drain could be switching aeroplane mode on and then toggle Wi-Fi, or any other connection, on & off when you need them.

Definitely. Aeroplane mode is a real battery saver.
