Sprint Samsuck Galaxy S3. 4.1.2. Tried rooting thru Xda site. Downloaded Odin and tried installing CF AUTO ROOT for the Sph-L710 and got passed message and accepted. But there is NO SUPERUSER. NO SU BINARY. I CAN enter download mode. But trying to enter recovery mode just goes directly into CF AUTO ROOT. And then it boots into home screen fine. Root checker says device not rooted. Could use some help. Second time rooting. Same phone/model and used the exact steps as first time and obviously failed somehow

Try flashing stock firmware again and try again. That fixed the issue last time when I couldn't install ROMs correctly

Hmm I just checked the Guide you posted. And that's EXACTLY as it appeared, excepting of course I used CF Auto Root in the PDA slot. But I got that pass and success message. I'm assuming that it may have been an outdated version. Going to do what you 2 suggest

Just wondering, how long since you last rooted?

Ummm, 1 month? Somewhere in that area. I had rooted exact same phone/model # with the steps on Xda. But my son threw that phone and busted it. This is the replacement.

Yeah so I can flash cwm recovery and enter it but get a host of things there. Such as... can't mount or open /cache/recovery/ log & /last_log and /command. Format_volume:make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p17. Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure. Cant wipe cache and can't factory reset from Cwm Recovery. Any ideas? I'm at a loss

I use TWRP, not sure if CWM is the same :\

Don't matter. I got 62 SUCCESSES today.By 5 different methods. All passed and succeeded. NONE Installed superuser. ALL put me in root loops or recovery loops. and I prefer twrp too. But that didn't help at all either. Tried that too. Thanks for the help but I give up b4 I brick this p.o.s. just leaving it half rooted and suffering. Can't even take it back to stock

What do you mean you can't get it back to stock? Can't you flash the stock firmware?

I do and it says pass and when it reboots its EXACTLY as it is now. I've tried multiple times today. Everything I try is successful according to the root methods I employ but the phone isn't changing. Its still stuck this way

Its like its half rooted and stuck from going forward or back. This is just how I feel.

Strange, what does root checker say now?
Start a thread on xda-developers concerning your issue, they might be able to help you better...

Sorry.. your device does not have proper root access. Decive status is modified. I began a thread on the XDA forums. Samsung phones hate me.

That sucks man. Hopefully they can find a solution, never heard of this happening to anyone before :(

Well, its new enough that a warranty would cover it. But I was under the assumption that once setting:about phone:device status = modified, it cancelled out the warranty? My plan today was to try an unroot toolkit and see if that breaks whatever it preventing my phone from going back to stock or fully rooting. Otherwise I may just go to a Sprint dealer and play dumb like, left my phone at a friends house and when I retrieved it it was acting up. Lol

LOL I don't know that might prompt the rep to check for something like that. Just say it won't turn on right or something
