Is there a way to change the vibrate pattern or make it repeat the vibrate x number of times until you clear the notification? I keep my phone on vibrate only all day, and I can barely feel it for sms/emails since it only does it once so if I miss it that one time I wont know till I check the phone hours later. I would like to make the pattern be a little longer, and even repeat it ever 10 seconds or something till I clear the notification. Any ideas?

I use Handcent SMS and it has various notification patterns including many repeating options (even custom vibration patterns). I greatly prefer it to the stock messaging application.

As for email, I don't currently get email pushed as Android and AOL seem to hate each other and the syncing fails constantly.

Thanks for the idea. I thought about handcent/chompsms, but I would prefer not loading apps that I dont have to (I am fine with the stock messenger), and it still wouldnt help with the emails.

I used to use a program for this called Missed Reminder. I believe you could set the number of times it would re-alert you, and at what intervals if you missed a reminder. Missed Reminder - Android app on AppBrain

I will try that out but sounds like it will solve my problem. Thanks.

EDIT:Only messed around with it for a few minutes, but seems like it will work great. I can even use it in place of "FlashNotify" as Missed Reminder will also light up the lcd screen (I really wish the Optimus had a LED light for notification)...

I'd be happy seeing the buttons at the bottom flash to notify... That'd be handy (in a darker environment)

Oh yeah, I'd love just to have the buttons flash and not the screen (save battery) - but I think that would require some special programing just for the Optimus versus a generic program that works on most/all android phones...
