Changed Boot Animation...now apps force close on startup

Hi all,

I recently discovered the world of changing boot animations. While the animations are great, they cause my phone to act really odd on start up. Gmail will continuously force close and I have to actually kill it by long pressing the back button. After about 3 minutes after start up, the phone seems to act normal and all apps load up, but it's pretty annoying.

Just tried rebooting again and the screen will go black and tell me that Gmail needs to force close.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I'm using AOSP 2.3.4 ROM.

Need more info, how are you installing the bootanimation?

Bootanimations are nothing more than a set of images being looped. It shoudn't affect your phone after bootup. However, installing it wrong could cause issues.

I originally installed one through Terminal emulator, and now I'm using an app called Boot Animation Changer.

It's really odd because now everything is running just fine, but the start up just takes that much longer. That's what I thought too Jerry, that it shouldn't effect how long it takes my apps to start up. I wonder if the issue is related to something else.

Actually, it can effect boot times, the animation robs cpu cycles during boot.
