Changing notification ringtone in Android messaging

Okay so stupid question, how do you change the texting notification ringtone in Android messaging? The field seems to be greyed out.

I go to Settings>Apps, select Messages, then tap Other Notifications>Advanced>Sound.

That screenshot looks unfamiliar. Are you running the Q beta?

Yes sir I am.

Yeah, I think its an issue with Q beta. Im on regular and I can change notifications right from the app.

Mhmmmmmm yep yep cool then. Not a huge issue I haven't been changing my notification tone in a long time anyways.

Hope you don't mind, I moved this to the Q forum, since it seems to be an issue with Q and not specifically with the Pixel 3.

I have the same issue. Beta 3 broke customizing notifications on Android messages so I'm forced using the default notification which is annoying bc at times I don't know if it's a txt or a hangout chat message "new chat for G Suite" for work.

Eric, I get the same screen you do and, yes, I can't set a different sound for messages.
