Changing the clock layout on lock screen

I think some people are having trouble understanding the difference between (Always on Display) and (Lock Screen). It's not that hard.

Go to 1 Settings
2 DISPLAY
3 Always in DISPLAY
4 Clock Style

Choice your style clock... I like edge clock style.

This is infuriating... there has to be an answer... you can change the clock by applying a theme but then you can't use your own image...

Ok so I'm in the same boat. The issue is with Android Nougat's default launcher. You need to have Google Now Launcher to be able to change lockscreen settings. Here's video explaining this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1z329KHDcE. However, I tried this and I still can't change the lock screen clock layout. Would be interested to know a solution

Google Now Launcher appears to only do the same thing - it lets you change the image but not the clock format. Unless I'm missing something....

On the lock screen? You can change the background to anything you want and keep the theme, or am I mistaken? I only use a theme to change the settings and notification areas black, and when I current backgrounds, it stays black.

Can't even change the wallpaper on the lockscreen. I agree, this year's lockscreen implementation is weird. I just try to bypass it.

I usually just try and go straight from the AOD right into the phone by long pressing the home button if I'm somewhere where the phone is smart unlocked. I find the lock screen as an intermediate annoyance that I just have to get past to get into my phone. I think its different on this phone as in my S7E I always used to press the home button from the AOD to see what I had and I just got used to doing it that way.

If you change the theme, it comes with wallpaper. When you replace the wallpaper with your own image, the theme is gone and you're back to the ugly stacked clock format.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but I'm still looking at this ugly clock! Any other ideas? Or am I missing something obvious?

Yep. Wish it wou of at least copy the AOD clock but would rather have the option to set a different clock if I wanted one.

I went to Always on Display to change the clock.
Press digital clock and then choose the clock style. It will change from that annoying style.

There is a difference from the AOD screen and the lock screen. These are two completely different screens. People here are talking about the lock screen not the AOD. This has been stated several times in this thread.

You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. I had tried this with a different theme and the whole theme was wiped out when I applied my wallpaper. No idea why. But with this black line one, it works! I also happen to like the rest of the theme.

Thanks so much for this, it was driving me crazy!

You can change the lock screen image. I took a picture. Saved it. Opened it and taped the three dots in the top right hand corner. Choose lock screen only

Turn on notifications for the lock screen. Don't select any apps if you don't want them though. This changes the clock layout to 00:00.
