Charging issues since update

Hi, I seem to be having big problems with charging my HTC one m9 since the new update to software last week, has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to solve it? It used to charge from 50% to full in about 90 mins but has been taking 3.5 hours to do the same. Really frustrated for a brand new, expensive phone!

Update should have fixed charging problems? Did you wipe cache partitions? If not try that and see if it helps.

I didn't have any problems until the update. I have cleared the cache and will see if that helps.. anyone any more ideas?

Does that heatup after a half charge or in between ? After that through the end till full charge it agains gets normal !

Updated to 1.40.161.8 last week, and no problems so far. Seems to charge quicker and no heat either.
Camera much better in low light pics as well.

This is a big issue that many of us are having. Just go the XDA forums..

I have found that a reboot before charging helps, but this cannot be the solution. HTC fix this! In the meantime I went back to my iPhone 6. I cannot rely on my M9 for anything. Two nights in a row and after 7 hours plugged in the M9 was not fully charged!
Sometimes it says it needs 16 hours to fully charge..Most of the time it's ready after 6-7 hours.
I do not want to make a plan every day when I charge my phone. Back to the iPhone for now..

Same issue with my device: often charges only 10% per hour.
I checked with various monitoring apps, and the actual charging current tops about 0.3 A, not even close to the theoretical 1.5 amps of the factory charger, so no surprise in the charging time. Tits. With these current levels, I would be not surprised at all, if using the phone while charging resulted in no charging at all, or even discharging, as many apps easly drain 0.5 millimamps. It has been driving me mad for the last couple of days, I have checked half a dozen chargers and cables alike in every combinations, when I have read about certain "thermail improvements" during charging in the last software update. I guees these jerks crippled the charging current so not to overheat the phone. Very nice!
I am soooooo disappointed in this device. I could have lived with the on-release genious "software fix" of the thermal issues when putting high load on the phone, as I dont care about benchmarks and rarely use performance heavy apps. But fking up my charging time to 9 hours takes the cake!
I also presume, since the thermal issues are of hardware origin, they can not do much about it, but restrict hardware performance whenever related to heat (CPU clock speed, charging current, etc), or recall all devices, no biggie.:(

The linked article doesn't help. Don't bother with factory reset. You will see a temporary solution and the problem will come back a day later.
Wiping the cache partition also doesn't help.
This year we are experiencing how HTC destroyed its flagship. I so loved my M9, its design, the BoomSound speakers, Blinkfeed..
What did HTC do?

First they delivered a firmware that wasn't ready. Overheating, bad camera quality..
Then they solved most camera issues (Kudos to them) and destroyed the way the device charges. That wasn't enough though, they brought ads to BlinkFeed, my favorite feature of Sense.
Goodbye HTC. I hope to see you again when you start making sense again. You are the disappointment of the year :(

I couldn't agree with you more. I bought it with the confidence they would sort these issues out after a few months. Now it just seems to be getting worse. Just a rudderless ship at this point.

To be honest, I didn't even have time to read the article when I posted it. I was in a hurry at work. Saw it, and remembered this post so I linked it. Sorry it didn't help.

My first test is positive. My quick charger seems to be charging my device really fast. I hope it stays like that. :)

petvas72 - did you have to do the battery re-calibration to get ti to work right or does your new M9 seem to be charging fine out of the box?

I has to recalibrate but I don't want to say yet that the issue was solved. I want to see it consistently working for two three days first. The first signs are positive.
