Charging the LG G3 = Long and Painful!

Not accurate at all. Mine will be charged in 30 min

I had some crazy readings like yours when I first got my phone. Is closer now but still wrong

EDIT: stupid screen shot

Oh okay...well that's good to know that the reading isn't accurate ☺ because i was about to go out and buy a different charger with more power...lol

I use my s4 charger 2.1amp I believe. It usually charges from below 30 to 100 in less than 2 hours and that's with nearly constant use.

IS it ok to use an older car charger if it fits? I dont wanna mess up my new phone but I have had the same sprint android charger for years and dont wanna buy a new one if I dont have to,

If it's a 1A charger - no, you don't want to use that. It would take forever, and if you use the G3 while driving - GPS or whatever, I believe it will consume power faster than the trickle charge it is receiving.

Lg g3 is just a terrible Phone. Hard to insert The usb cable in and take for ever to charge

Maybe you need to use some KY jelly? /s

But seriously, it is a little tight fit - the micro usb but at least with mine I wouldn't consider that a problem. I'm no LG fanboy but they did an amazing job with this phone.

I got the same problem with my g3 and about to sale mine on eBay. I Can't wait 5 hours for the phone to be fully charge. My g2 didnt have that problem

How about this for a solution - get a second battery with wall charger. I found this on ebay - search for "Caseology 3000 mAh Battery and LED USB Wall Charger for LG G3 " and there must be others.

Or even better... exchange your phone or LG charger. Mine takes 3 hours to charge fully. Something is wrong.

The first few charges should be with the phone completely shut down. I agree with anyone saying that your charger is defective and you sprung to fast to buy another charger. Yes the higher amperage will charge faster but I have had no issues with charging the G3 and it actually charges fast and I was using an older charger 1.5A versus the one that came with it. Now I use the one that came with it just to charge it quicker. Also the charge cable is a little tricky to insert, aim it at an angle and it will go in smoother.

With the included charger mine takes 100 min to charge from 0% to full

AT&T user checking in. Travel AC adapter model MCS 04WR2 working very well. Charges my power hungry and issue plagued Nexus 7 very fast as well.

I am still thinking about going wireless but the port is not nearly as bad as when I first bought the phone after plugging it in a few times, I still want wireless though to limit the wear and tear on the port and phone. I would rather not get a case to wirelessly charge it though. I am liking ym otterbox

Had the phone for a few weeks now, and I went from 7% to 68% in about an hour.

T-Mobile G3

I use the charger and cable the g3 came with and i can charge from 10% to 100% in about 2 hours

So our phones have smart charge 2.0

I do not understand completely how it works with regards to which charger is used. I do know there is a list of compatible chargers that support it. And the lg oem one isn't listed.

I have tried my factory 1.8a charger and it's the same charging time as the verizon 2.1A micro usb led home charger.

I do notice with battery monitor widget app that it will not tell me the actual current flowing in like it did on my droid maxx. I think it's because the app hasn't been updated to support smart charge 2.0.

The standby time on my phone is awesome with greenify donate and nlp unbounce xposed set to 2400 seconds. I can get about 5-6 hours of screen time so that's pretty good.

I can charge my phone from 30 to 90 in under an hour.

u must to turn your mobile off before u charge it .
My G3 take 1.5 hour to full charge .

Guys After updated latest software.... i have noticed that phone is charging pretty quick....

1) Update the software.
2) Let the battery drain to totally dead mode.
3) Charge the phone in switched off mode.

Result: With heavy usage my battery last for around 2 days. 6th September at 10:30 pm to 12pm i have charged in switched off mode. After fully charged to 100% i woke up at morning & found that my battery is wow 99% available. After using now & then today at 8th September around 10:44am its still showing me 19% charged.

So use the above steps and it will help u out...

Problem Solved:

I had this same problem with my LG G3 (which is what brought me here).
Was at 64%, and after 3 hours charging (shut down), it was at 81%.

I tried the charger from my LG G Flex (same 1.8 amps..identical charger).
In fact, I only replaced the cord itelf...the one that goes from the USB plug-in part to the phone-plug-in part.

Charged up to 100% when I looked at it 15 minutes later.

So you don't need a 2+ amps charger. You just need to replace the cord of the charger (or get a new 1.8 amp charger).
